Miss Darla book released

Knowing that there is a different audience out there, than was there ten years ago, a whole generation of non-print readers, it is time the 2005 print only version of this World War II story of Miss Darla became an ebook. Miss Darla is the first of two ebooks, from the original novel For Thou Art With Me, available for the first time in digital format.…

This was my last week of the writing course I was taking online at Future Learn.

This was my last week of the writing course I was taking online at Future Learn. I enjoyed the eight week free course, submitting assignments and getting other writers thoughts about what I had written. I didn't struggle to hand in a freshly written paragraph and short story. I used from what I already had so it was easier to get the assignments done. Now on to finishing my next Amish book about Nurse Hal.

My last post was about the character paragraph I handed in and the critiques I…

Unemployable! by David Thomas Roberts

I was drawn to this book because of its title ‘Unemployable!’ I just love the title, as it was exactly what my now husband classified me as 10 years before we married when I was a self-employed mum working in his garden – and he was right I could never be employed by anyone else. I love the freedom too much!

I agree with everything that the author David Thomas Roberts…

Guest post: "What Makes a Good Literary Novel? by Rocco Lo Bosco

I do not think it is possible to narrow a good novel down to a formula of some kind. If it was possible to do so, a novel would not be . . . well, novel. In that there are certain areas of overlap that good novels share, I can say with some certainty that a good novel has interesting and complex characters facing interesting and difficult…

Busy Boy

March 6th. 2016

We’ve had a full week, one way or another. Saturday (eight days ago) we went to the funeral of a dear friend who succumbed to cancer. Monday we visited friends in Southampton for a meal. They are off to Spain today to their holiday home; back in May. Friday was a visit to my sister and then yesterday we were with number three son, John and his wife Bryony, so all in all a busy period. The kitchen work tops turned up Tuesday — couldn’t get them in…

Poem: The Shape of Love

The shape of Love is not a heart,

but that… of a solitary cross;

the burden of Christ’s sacrifice

was a desire to redeem the lost.

For Him, to reflect the Love of

The Father, is unimaginable to us;

such mercy and grace required God,

Who was embodied by Christ Jesus.

By the actions of one man, sin was

birthed into this world by Adam;

and now, through Christ, its affect

can be diminished, as we…
