Gathered by Virgins.
There’s something about a good cup of tea that lubricates thought and helps the day go more smoothly. My parents drink tea by the bucket full, whereas I mainly drink it at work. There are cultural differences to; I believe tea is much less popular in America than it is here in the UK, but strangely the Portuguese and Dutch are big tea drinkers. Anyhow, when tea was first introduced to Britain in the mid 17th century, wild claims…

Using twitter.com has helped bring in more traffic to my website, fromwithinirise.com. At first, I didn't receive any "action" worth noting. However, I came across a free ebook that seems to be doing the job. I am far from a tweeting expert, but the ebook taught me how to make money…

Hi, everybody! I have put together my top 20 picks of novels for so far this year. Some of the novels are not from the Big 6 publishers and that should not be of any surprise to anyone that follows my blog. I try to find good stuff to read just about anywhere I can. As a side note to all of this, I will be posting my Delicious Dozen of Digital short Stories tomorrow, please look for it. The Self-Published list will be out later in the year as I accrue more posts. Remember, I actually took…

The week just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Today’s novel has a really cute cover but a really creepy and intense inside. Susan Whitfield has a winner here in Sin Creek. On Saturday: Our next Improvised Digital short Story with The Girls vs. The Guys. The teams are set and ready to go for the next Improvised Digital short Story. The Girls are: Bri…

I love this kind of stuff…short stories. I almost put this on Digital short Saturday but thought better of it as it sold as one packaged good. How could it qualify for a digital short story, you ask? I read this on my Kindle. It is broken up into different short stories by different authors, thus the digital short stories. Tomorrow I am popping in my Top 20 Novels of the First Quarter of 2011, and then on Thursday I am calling it The Delicious Dozen Of Digital short Stories First Quarter…

Not sure if this helps anyone, but my website saw an increase of several hundred hits from all over the world because of a single link in the comments section of a photo posted on reddit.com.
I'm sure the site has rules against marketing, and it mentions that comments must be 'relevant'. In my case, the pic was a zombie fortress floating in space. Since my novel is a sci-fi, horror, zombie novel, I guess it was relevant enough for someone to post a link in the comments section.…

I got the idea for my Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill adventure series from a family member. I was at my uncle’s birthday party and my cousin Joe, who had a little too much to drink, came up to me telling me about this great idea he had. He had an idea for a character named Joe-Joe who goes on all of these different adventures. Joe-Joe goes skiing; Joe-Joe goes hiking,…

Being a big Bill & Ted’s Great Adventure fan, I could not pass this sci-fi work up. I mean getting another crack at Socrates, does it get any better. Later on today the author of this fine piece of work meets me in The G-ZONE. I think it is a great way to start the week personally, another reason to wake up, all that kinda stuff. Just to clue everybody in, this is another huge week of guests and posts as we make a mad dash toward Saturday and another Improvised Digital Short Story…

In reading about self-publishing I've seen a lot of people say you need to be your own publisher, buy the EIN numbers and list your own company name. My question is, what does this get you? CreateSpace and SmashWords are willing to be my "publisher" for free and get those pesky EIN number for me as free as well. So what does opening a Publishing company buy me? Is it worth the investment of a few hundred dollars?
Thanks for your help!

From the moment we are born, someone is telling us to be careful. No matter what country we call home or what language we speak, these words follow us our entire lives. You might hear parents, friends, family or children lovingly say this phrase at least once a day. Think about all of the times that a loved one goes off to school,…
