HANG UP THE PHONE!

HANG UP THE PHONE!

10 to 15 years ago, the number of people who owned a cell phone was much less than it is today.

I can remember having a cell phone when many people didn’t. However, post-9/11 has made having a cell a necessity. I know this is true, being a person born and raised in New York City.

Cell phones should be used while driving only in the case of emergencies. They should be used with hands-free devices such as earpieces or Bluetooth equipment. There… Continue

MRS. LIEUTENANT Blog Salutes U.S. Military on Memorial Day

Tomorrow, May 26, my husband Mitch will fly the American flag from the front of our house. As a former ROTC officer in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, Mitch always flies the flag on Memorial Day, July 4th and Veterans Day.

In anticipation of Memorial Day this year, I read the May 24th “Cross Country” article in The Wall Street Journal by Kevin Ferris titled “Protesting the Antiwar Protestors.” The article describes how Rich Davis, a

20-year veteran of the Navy who retired… Continue

Making Money From Publishing Newsletters

The object, of course, of any niche marketing business adventure is to make a profit. When people subscribe to your online newsletter or ezine, their object is to get the information that you are able to provide to them. When people subscribe to your online newsletter or ezine, your object is to make money by supplying that information. This is a simple concept that is easier said than done. Making a website profitable…any website….isn’t easy or quick. Try to remember that anything worth doing… Continue

I got this request from a fellow author. I will be donating copies of my book, I hope you decide to do the same. Please email rainbow@velocity.net if you wish to participate.

I have a special request for all those who have published a book.

The recent storms in the South wreaked havoc for author Lacresha Hayes. The church run by her and her husband was severely damaged. In addition, many of those ministered to by the church have been hit hard. With that said, a… Continue

What's Up With This Crime Writer?

Ah! Spring!! I took Friday (5/23) off for a nice and much needed four-day weekend. Hope everyone’s plans for this Memorial Day weekend includes some reflection, a cook out or two with friends and family, and lots of fun and relaxation. For me it's a chance to get started with deep cleaning our home. House cleaning isn't my focus these days but it drives me nuts to not have a clean house. I'll get done what I can, and get some gardening in later this afternoon.

Then again, anyone who… Continue

10 Ways to Insure You'll Never Publish

Anyone can give you ideas to help you get published. Here's a few helpful hints to make sure you never have to worry about getting The Call.

1. Never finish a manuscript. Surely just your premise scrawled quickly onto the back of a napkin ought to be enough. It's the idea that counts.

2. Don't accept critique from others. It's your story. You should be able to tell it from 37 different points of view if you want. And be sure to ignore the publisher's… Continue

“Ban on Sex for Soldiers in Afghanistan Lifted…Sort Of”

This was the subject line in the email from www.military.com that greeted me this morning when I awoke. As busy as I am, I had to read the article reprinted from the May 15th Stars and Stripes and reported by Drew Brown. Here are the first paragraphs of that story:

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- Single soldiers and civilians working for the U.S. military in Afghanistan can now have sex legally. Sort of.
