Sowing the First Seeds

First, thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in this little adventure of the relaunch of my book. It is certainly a common problem among authors! And that's exactly why I am doing this. I thought we could all learn from an effort as we go.

As you know, my book Call to Liberty is a book about political philosophy. So, political events and conferences seem like a natural place to find potential customers and interested parties. A few weeks ago, I heard about a big progressive… Continue

Celebrity Secrets Excerpt

Elissa walked into the terminal and smiled seeing Greg standing far off to the

side waiting on her. She waved at him excitedly and he put a simple hand up to

meet her excited wave. She rushed over to him, wrapping her arms around him

in a hug.

"Hey you! Where is everybody else?"

He let go of her, amazed at the scent of lingering…

Introduction

I would like to say how happy I am to be here and to tell you a little bit of who I am. I run the Pump Up Your Book Virtual Book Tours, along with my assistant, Jamieson Wolf. Both of us are authors and both of us know what it takes to promote books. Thus, our virtual book tours company was born.

Before we started this company, both of us were authors (and still are, of course) and we both were looking for ways we could use our…

Getting started

I will use this blog to chronicle the marketing activity we undertake in the next several months for my book Call to Liberty: Bridging the Divide Between Liberals and Conservatives. What the heck. We can all see how it goes. Anyone with ideas to help it go faster and better can add them, and we will try it. So, first some background.

Book published: December 2006

Publisher: Scarletta Press, a small press with little background or experience. They provided no marketing and… Continue

A Major Dose of Literary Genre Fiction

I just completed a major dose of literary genre fiction when I finished reading Ann Packers' The Dive From Clausen Pier. This novel was named "One of the Best Books of the Year" by Entertainment Weekly, Newsday, San Francisco Chronicle, and San Jose Mercury News. It's been made into a "Lifetime" original movie. It was a national best seller. It's accolades are numerous and include "genuine suspense," "a page turner," "incredible detail," "exceedingly real," etc.

I recently posted a…

Richport Chapters is Rich with Wonderful Customers

Well, it took me a few days to post this update. I'm just a tad bit tired from traveling. I can't get over how much the Vancouver area has grown since I lived here 16 years ago. I don't recognize a thing. Except the dark cloud and rain! lol Seriously though, I miss seeing all this greenery and the mountains.

On Sunday, June 10th, I had my last signing in this area. It was at the Richport Chapters in Richmond, BC. I was happy to see a table set up and waiting, with signage…

The friendly Sky’s

Now I am sure many of you have your horror stories about airlines and airports. I know that I can share a story or two with you. I was recently made aware the passengers are not the only ones to suffer from the many things that can occur on air planes or the airports. Flight attendants share in the inconvenience and hassle that we as passengers share. Here a story that got me to have a…

JOHN K'S BOOK PUBLISHING OPTIONS / PART 11

John K. / And Others: John, when you write your book on publishing options, you might want to add something I've discovered, though it may all ready be known. Recently, a book was published about Newport, RI---Stensrud, Rockwell. Newport: A Lively Experiment, 1639-1969. The name of the publisher was given as the Redwood Library and Athenaeum in Newport. I live in RI and know that the Redwood Library is not normally a publisher. It is a library for researchers and the general public… Continue

New audio program almost done!

First blog post on NING.

If you're familiar with my previous work (Dealing With People You Can't Stand, Dealing With Relatives, Love Thy Customer, Life By Design, How To Find and Keep a Mate, The Happiness of Pursuit) then I think you'll be interested in what's next for me!

I'm putting the finishing touches on an audio program based on a 250 page manuscript I wrote this year. I should have it done in time to start selling it through my website, theartofchange.com when the… Continue

Langley Chapters Hires Bodyguard for Bestselling Mystery Author

Ok, well now that I've got your attention, I guess I have to explain the title of today's blog post. Yesterday, I visited the Chapters in Langley, BC. As we pulled into the parking lot, my first reaction was: "Wow! They even have people outside waiting to greet me...and they're handing out invitations to my signing." As we got closer, I saw it was a couple of protesters. So much for my special welcome...darn! :)

Upon entering the store, however, I was met with a great…

Pinetree Chapters is a Breath of Fresh Air

Tonight I had my signing at Pinetree Chapters in Coquitlam, and I was welcomed in a way that made me feel like I was home. Linda, the manager, met me at a table that was already set up with copies of Whale Song and a sign announcing my book signing.

The staff was all very friendly. Many of them came over to the table and asked about all three of my titles. Caitlin and Pali rang in my sales until closing time. Earlier, I witnessed Pali making an elastic attack…

I Will Take Door Number Two

There is one thing that I have no tolerance for and that is anyone that harms or attempts to harm a child. Recently there was a girl who was found after being missing for nearly a year. The circumstances surrounding her being found were really quite bazaar. Police went to a home in West Hartfard…
