New Alaska Novel

Hi All:

I'm very excited about my new novel called "Alaska Now: A Novel About Alaskan Oil, Native Corporations, Wildlife, Identity and Love." The reason I'm excited is because the novel is my way of contributing to the conservation efforts to save the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and the National Petroleum Reserve from the Bush Administration's efforts to open these pristine wildlife refuges to oil drilling. At the moment the "Yellow Billed Loon" , an endangered…

Most know me by Pee Wee, but I'm Sylvia K. for real.

My name is really Sylvia Kaye but most people call me Pee Wee. At one time Pee Wee fit but I'm sad to say, not anymore. Oh well...it happens to the best of us, I guess.

I'm proud as a peacock to have published my first novel, The Kahills of Willow Walk. Am now working on a sequel, For the Love of Willow Walk, (working title). Someone said the second book is easier than the first. Perhaps I'll punch them in the nose. <g>Maybe it's just me but my characters seem to be takiing a…

Learning the "Biz"

When I first decided to pursue a writing career I had these grand visions of being in a cabin on a lake somewhere and spending my days under a tree writing, then once a year or so I'd toss the manuscript into the mail to my agent and return to the tree to write some more. I had my first book published 3 years ago and I've been in a perpetual state of shock ever since! The little secret your English professor doesn't tell you is that in order to be a published author you also have to be very…

This is where I am

Hi everyone,

I've just joined this network and first impressions are it looks great. I thought I would just add few words here about what Im doing at the moment. I have written two non-fiction books so far on performance enhancement for sports people and am currently writing another for golfers.

However, I have always wanted to write a novel and I'm currently developing an idea for getting my philosphy for personal development through sport into a story. I have a few ideas and…

Its all about ME

Good morning. Quit my real job last year to become a writer. Some might think "I had it all"...pension, 401K, decent salary, blah, blah, blah. But for the 2 1/2 years I wrote in my journal (every single day) about how much I didn't want to be there.

My boss found out he had cancer at the ripe ol' age of 53 in March and died that Aug. And I began to realize he lived for everyone but himself. And then I realized that it just might be ok to go for what I want in life, since it is…

What's in a name?

As an author, how important is your name? Is there an advantage to using a pen name rather than your own moniker? You probably figure I'm the last person on earth to ask such a thing. I had to laugh when a bookstore manager out in Washington asked me if Janet Elaine Smith is a pen name? Yeah, right! If I were going to pick a name out of thin air, the most logical one to choose would be "Smith," just to avoid any confusion with the umpteen million other Smiths in the…

It Can only Be God

There are many things that have happened to me since being placed here on this earth that defy all rational physical explanation. All of these things for me have truly been life altering things. I know that all of the things that I have experienced are a direct manifestation the existence of God. When I see or hear about things that to me are a direct manifestation of God I rejoice. Here…

INTERNET RADIO

My name is Phil harris and I host two separate internet radio shows-both called ALL THINGS THAT MATTER. One show is on internetvoicesradio.com and the other is on BlogTalkRadio.com. As an author I have found these two shows to be an excellent outlet for authors and non-authors to promote their ideas to a wider audience. I do not do fluff but rather focus upon issues like books with a real messages that are inspirational, aim to teach humanity the errors of its ways, expose abuses and seek to…
