Virtual Book Tour for MRS. LIEUTENANT: Day 15 and Going Strong(ish)

I haven’t left my computer while taking a virtual book tour for MRS. LIEUTENANT, yet I feel as buoyant and frazzled as if I were on a real book tour.

Buoyant – because I’ve “met” such nice book reviewers and readers. Frazzled – because in addition to writing guest posts I’ve been responding to comments to these guest posts and to comments to reviews of MRS. LIEUTENANT.

And I’ve also been emotionally affected by this tour.… Continue

A Thousand Years of Zähringen (Satis Shroff, Freiburg)

1000 Years of Zähringen (Satis Shroff)

The ruins of Zähringen’s castle lies on a hillock overlooking the Vale of Dreisam. And the hamlet of Zähringen is a part of Freiburg. Zähringen is 1000 years old, reason enough to celebrate a festival with the inauguration of the Zähringer fountain, which is a tall monolith with a scarlet heart on the top, a work of art. Like all such celebrations, the 1000 years of Zähringen began with a… Continue

"How to rob a bank..."

Do you think bank robbers read books with such titles? Maybe they have a web site like robbers.com. Or they might have a Yahoo group to share tips and discuss failures or successes in their devious activity. Who knows?

But I do know one of them fulfilled his plan one morning early this week. My cousin began her morning in the usual way. She got ready, put on her make-up, grabbed a cup of coffee, and gave her daughter fresh fruit and a bowl of cereal. She then proceeded to navigate… Continue

What are Your Dreams?

June 19th, 2008

I don’t mean the random dreams you have while sleeping. I mean your dreams for the future, thethings you long to do. Inside each of us is beauty and wonder. We were made to do more than slog through the day. Your mind is filled with possibilities! What does your heart long to do? if you could- what would you do?

Think about it for a moment? If you could do anything, what would it be? Now, ask yourself this: Why aren’t you? Most of the time it is not that we can’t… Continue

Heroes Con, baby! Come say hello!

If you're going to Heroes this weekend, drop by and see me, but don't go to table AA-1112, as it says on the website. Instead, I'll be partnering up with Christian Beranak over at table AA-409 instead. I'll be helping Christian out and have both his stuff and my stuff for sale at AA-409. If you want to say hello, please drop by on either Friday or Saturday since my schedule picked up a conflict that will make me have to come back home for Sunday, so I'll only be at the con on Friday and… Continue

Win a Chance To Go Back in Time!

Midsummer’s Eve is a time for lovers. They would clasp hands as they jumped over the fires. It was also a time when magic was most potent, a time when the Otherworld is close.

In honor of Midsummer’s Eve, I’m holding a contest for my new release, “A Twist of Fate,” a time travel romance.

All you need to do is watch A Twist of Fate’s book trailer and answer these two Questions:

1. Arianna remembers an eerie prediction form the fortuneteller. What is it?

2.… Continue

A little jealous of Tim Russert.

We’ve all heard the praises of this illustrious man, admired for his keen ability to draw insights from politicians and to bring out issues that most wondered about. He was an exemplary family man and a leader in demonstrating compassion toward those who knew him.

But a comment made about him makes me sigh with a hint of jealousy. Someone said that he gave a new meaning and purpose for Sunday mornings as he had an “insatiable hunger to know the truth.”

Wow! I’d like to be… Continue

Creating the Book Trailer for MRS. LIEUTENANT: A SHARON GOLD NOVEL

Watching the book trailer for MRS. LIEUTENANT –- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kpjo-hv7fII – brings back the memories of those turbulent times at the end of the ‘60s and the start of the ‘70s. Theresa Chaze did such a terrific job of capturing that time that I asked her to write a guest post describing how she chose the elements for the trailer. (FYI – She graduated from Michigan State University a little over a… Continue

Book publishing and promotion

Book publishing and promotion

These are my thoughts, based upon my experience in using the print on demand publishing services of Lulu.com and what to do after you publish.

My feeling about Lulu comes down to money. For about $100 you get an ISBN and what they call Global Distribution , which means your book is printed by Lightning and distributed through Ingram to online and regular retailers who chose to purchase a print on demand (POD) book.

Cost per book is based upon… Continue

The World Wants to See God

June 17th, 2008

The world is waiting to SEE God. Especially in this country they have heard of God, and heard of his love, but since they have not SEEN it- they doubt. What the world needs is not another sermon about God’s love. They need to see it, feel it, touch it, and taste it. How? Through you, that is how. God told us to love each other. It is the second most important job we have. God wants us to be his hands and feet here on earth. We need to care for each other. Look out for each… Continue

A Writer's Plan for a Summer Day

A Writer’s Plans for a Summer Day

Two of my interests in life are writing fiction and gardening. These activities complement each other. For the first I need a fertile imagination, for the second fertile soil suitable for the requirements of various plants. Sometimes I think that I would be happy if I had nothing more to do than write and garden.

So far, this morning has been typical of an early summer day. Here in Hertfordshire, England the sun is shining but the air is cool.… Continue
