Stepped Back for a Moment

I want to appologize to those people, both thru direct contact and behind the scenes who were helping me with promoting my book, THE BREKLEBY PRESS. I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was as well as having something things going on in my life which cause me to put things on hold. I am close to finishing up those things personally and hope to get going on the book again soon. I do want to thank all those who aided me and look forward working with you again. Once again I do appologize

Lifetime’s ARMY WIVES – My Take on Episode 2 of Season 2

The start of episode 2 of Lifetime’s popular television series ARMY WIVES had me worried – more of that over-the-top voiceover. “Oh, no,” I thought, “if this season is going to be filled with voiceover, I’m out of here.”

(Did anyone get the reference to the Whoopi Goldberg movie SISTER ACT? You know, when the guy in the bar says about the two nuns Whoopi and Kathy Najimy – “If this turns into a nuns’ bar, I’m out of here.”)

Fortunately, after the first few minutes the… Continue

How did you get your email lists for the media...

I have a few options of ways to get email addresses for the media for press releases. I have also done my share of digging on media websites to find contact information. How did you all get your media lists?

Free Publicity in my eZine

I have had such a great response from the Featured Artist section of my eZine that I am considering publishing it weekly instead of bi-monthly. Please let me know if you would like to be considered for the "spotlight" in the eZine. Remember, this is free publicity and my eZine is reaching hundreds of people across the US, Canada and the UK.

To be considered, send me a bio along with your works, appearances, anything you would like to have some publicity for.

Need a Book Trailer? Let me help you

Greetings,

The newest online marketing tool for authors is the book video, which is also called a book trailer. By combining video with a voice over and music, the author can promote not only their electronic book, but also their print books that are available through bookstores. More than an ad, the videos are able to go beyond the synopsis to give the reader a deeper understanding of the book. Trailers combined with SEO keywords make an effective marketing tool for both fiction and… Continue

Happy Graduation Day...A Tribute To Future Movers and Shakers

On April 17, 2008 I had the pleasure of participating in the Young Women’s Conference Day at Murrell Dobbins Career and Technical High School. I along with other professional women was asked to volunteer a few hours of our morning to speak on the topic: Education…Fuel For Life.

The class I was assigned to was a small group of 12th graders. To break the ice I had each young lady tell me something about themselves and what their plans… Continue

Perils of the Internet

I'm sure there are many but there's an intriguing article in the most recent issue of Atlantic that all writers should begrudgingly read. The article outlines how search engines are rewiring our brains and indeed could be making some of us less inclined to comprehend deep, long passages of writing. Interesting stuff. You can read it here.

In other news, just finished a one-act and have hooked up with a couple of playwriting… Continue

A Cold Day in Buffalo

As many of you know already, Tim Russert passed away in the early afternoon for Friday, June 13th. He was a passionate follower of all things political, and many people I am sure have spoken with more eloquence on his accumen in that arena. He was honored, revered, and feared by those that sat across the table from him for the past 17 years. He made the arcane workings of the American political system understandable to those of us that around the kitchen table, and held those who held public… Continue

WHITE WOLF

LATE AT NIGHT THE WHITE WOLF HOWLS

A SADDENED CRY BUT NEVER GROWLS

TO THOSE WHO HUNGER FOR NEW LIFE

HE IS THE MYTH, THE HOLY GRAIL

FOR THOSE WHO KNOW THE MOUNTAIN TRAIL

HE STANDS ALONE WITHOUT A MATE

HE IS THE PROMISE BUT NOT THE FATE

WHITE AS THE MOUNTAINS LAYED WITH SNOW

WHERE WHITE WOLF HOWLS NEW LIFE WILL… Continue

Vietnam War and MRS. LIEUTENANT – Part II

As explained in the introduction to Part I, the following Amazon review was written by Diana Faillace Von Behren (“reneofc”), an Amazon Top 500 reviewer, and posted here with her permission.

In this, her first Sharon Gold novel, Miller addresses the concerns of this era in American history. Written perhaps as a part memoir – Miller was herself a `Mrs. Lieutenant' – the story is cleverly crafted from the viewpoints of four very different young officers' wives whose lives intersect at… Continue

Vietnam War and MRS. LIEUTENANT – Part I

The following Amazon review was written by Diana Faillace Von Behren (“reneofc”), an Amazon Top 500 reviewer. I asked her permission to post this review on my blog because I love the way she talks about the Vietnam War era. My only changes were to break up long paragraphs into shorter ones. So, without further ado, here’s Diana:

When I was a girl in middle school, my homework assignment for one winter evening was to write a Christmas letter to an unknown soldier serving in the… Continue

I'm sick and tired of the pain.

Have you ever cried out those words? A friend suffers with kidney stones and has mumbled how sick and tired he is of the pain. It persists and returns more often than he’d like.

And when the pain is unbearable, he heads to the emergency room. After filling out a myriad of papers, answering the endless, repetitive questions about his health history and insurance coverage comes the question: On a scale of 0 to 10, what number is your pain?

Aren’t you glad God never asks that… Continue
