The 8 Acts of Grace

The Acts of Grace are the results of living within the Laws of Grace. Here they are in no particular order:

First Act of Grace: manifestation

Manifestation is the result of living our lives within the organization of Grace. By invoking Grace interlaced with love and by claiming the power of Grace, we recognize our intentions or manifest.

Second Act of Grace: clarity

We can achieve clarity of thought and action when we accept and surrender ourselves to the power of…

Off to London

I vividly remember the ferryboat trip from Calais, France to Dover, England. The boat was quite basic and uncomfortable, wooden benches everywhere. There may have been sleeping cabins, but I didn’t know and would not have been able to afford one. We, the young people, spent the night on deck. I found a sheltered spot near a chimney to keep me warm from the cold and windy weather. I still feel the rocking and creaking of the ferry and hear the wind whistle. - See more at:…

Five years on and still going strong!

Wow, I've now written ten books on the same girl, with another coming out in October. Believe me, when I first introduced her in 'The People Traders' published 2009, I never imagined that title would still be selling. Except it is. It goes to show, create a memorable character and your readers will want more and more. Now  my character, Karen Harris, has come alive in audio books and is chafing at the bit for me to bring her to the silver screen. A bit too far perhaps? No way, she's going to…

An Introduction to Abolitionism

Abolitionism was a historical movement that sought the immediate emancipation of all enslaved people. The origins of abolitionism in what would become the United States of America started way back on February 18, 1688, when the Mennonites of Germantown, Pennsylvania held their monthly meeting and draft a set of resolutions in opposition to slavery, which they call “the traffic of men-body.” Soon after, in April 1688, German and Dutch Quakers in the same town wrote a two-page condemnation of…

The Enduring Legacy of Edgar Allan Poe

Despite the fact that Edgar Allan Poe died more than 160 years ago, his poetry and stories remain controversial and popular.  Not only have his writings continued to be discussed and examined in the classroom, but also, for more than a century, his poems and stories have been adapted into screen, television, stage and other forms of creative media.  According to The Atlantic, “The long-gone author… has 251 movie- or TV-writing credits and counting.”

No discussion or lecture in…

The History of the Boys of the American Civil War

Introduction

During the years of the American Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, the historians of the time were the participants – soldier or civilian. Today we call them primary resources. Back then they were the letters and journals kept by soldiers and civilians alike, the orders and reports written by the officers, literature by the writers of the day, photographs by the many photographers who followed the events of the war, newspaper articles, battlefield and camp sketches, and…

Time for a break

June 17 2015

Tomorrow we are off to Alaska for a seven night cruise, flying from Heathrow to Seattle. Three nights in Seattle and then board the Ruby Princess on Sunday. Am I looking forward to it? Well, it’s a long way to go for a week’s cruising, but I’m sure the trip will be enjoyable. Not so sure about the 13 hour flight. We’ve done the 24 hour flight to Australia, which was a pain. Always is when you fly economy. We did fly business class once. What a difference, eh? Can’t do…
