and a new logo. Wow! I'm feeling the excitement.

I've made many new friends since I've been on Ning, and I'm enjoying looking at all their accomplishments (books) as well as talking to them. It is very stimulating to see what others have… Continue

Chase's Progress

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Proverbs 4:23

I told you a while back about Chase's summer challenge. If he reads fifty Chapter Books, he will get a Wii for his birthday in August. Well, he made himself a little chart and he started reading books. And each week, he has checked how many books he's read, how many days he has left and how many books he still needs to fit in.

U.S. Military Personnel Who Served from 1972-1984 Re-Joins in 2007

Here’s a guest post from Specialist Neil Gussman – he has quite an interesting story to tell about his military service. (When he’s not training with the Army National Guard, he writes about the history of chemistry at Chemical Heritage Foundation, a museum and library of the history of chemistry and early science located in Center City Philadelphia.) And to read more of his writing, check out his blog at http://armynow.blogspot.com:

ARMY WIVES Episode 6 of Season 2: Derogatory Reference to Gypsies

In episode 6 of Season 2 of Lifetime Television’s ARMY WIVES there was something that bothered me very much: Betty, the owner of the Hump Bar, uses the word “gypped” to mean “cheated.”

It amazes me that the writing staff of ARMY WIVES did not realize that this is a derogatory word based on the word Gypsy. The use of this word as a verb is very offensive to Gypsies.

Many people may never have seen real Gypsies. When my husband and I were stationed in Munich, Germany (from… Continue

Stopped By Fear!

Stopped By Fear.

July 17th, 2008

I went to the dentist today. I HATE DENTAL WORK. Now don’t get me wrong. I have a wonderful dentist, who I like very much. He is really good, we are friends. I trust him, yet I HATE DENTAL WORK!! I had an old badly done crown that needed replaced (done by a different dentist). He has been trying to get me to replace it for a couple of years. I keep saying I will. I knew I should. The old one was ugly to begin with. It hurt frequently. It kept my gum… Continue

Women of A Certain Age and Why Younger Men Find Them Attractive

Reader email in response to my latest release, TWISTED STEEL AND SEX APPEAL, is rolling in. I was a little surprised to receive one note from a loyal “Hot and Henderson” fan telling me in one breath that she loved Luke and Shelly’s story and in the next questioning if I really thought someone with as much youthful virility and make-your-nether-regions-tingle good looks as my hero would realistically end up with a woman nearly ten years his senior.

The answer to that question was a… Continue

Thrifted, Not Re-Gifted?

Thrifted, Not Re-gifted

A funny thing happen to me at the thrift store. As I was scanning the bookshelves for the lastest literary cast-offs my daughter cried out to me after unearthing a slightly worn copy of my debut novel, Soon and Very Soon-with a signature, no less. I haven't done many of these. This gave me pause. I was insulted. I felt the way I did when I found my favorite cassette tape of all time, New Editions's NE Heartbreak album in the bargin bin at Sam Goody record store.… Continue

What Do You Do When Fear Overpowers You?

I had a frightened call from Debbie yesterday. She was

totally beside herself. She had just gotten off the bus and

was at a physical as well as spiritual crossroads. She was

totally consumed with fear, crying and shaking

uncontrollably.

Someone involved in occult practices had threatened that,

if she did not follow through on a tentative promise she

had made, there would be consequences. Debbie, who had

recently accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her… Continue

I want to write a book...

Have you ever had that in the back of your mind? I did...never thought I could, never thought I would . But when the Lord is in charge all kinds of doors open.

I'm watching those doors swing wide open and one of them just took place at the International Christian Retail Show---where authors have the opportunity to meet with editors. Gulp. The hope is to garner interest for your writing.

That's where I've been the last few days, but I plan to be back with my blogging… Continue
