Poem: Forgiveness

We are wronged by people daily,

but to not forgive is unconscionable.

The Universal King had died for all;

for in eternity's view, we're pardonable.

He has given absolute amnesty

to everyone who has accepted Him.

Make no mistake about this unmerited immunity -

Grace's favor (over the course of Life) wears thin.

Death is inevitable, and our spirits

this mortal frame will leave;

so take advantage of God's condonation

to be granted… Continue

New Publishing Channels Can Breathe Life Into Older Books

As most of you know, one of the biggest challenges in this business is bringing attention to a book that's been out for a while.

Face it, the media is enamored with what's new.

Once a new book has garnered it's 15 minutes of fame, it becomes increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to attract that all important media attention. Of course it can be done, and was executed beautifully a few weeks ago by Shel Horowitz - "he who never lets up":-)

Now, with… Continue

BOGGED DOWN WITH BLOGGS?

Marketing. Promotion. Tooting your own horn. The bane of the writing life--or a boost?

You're hoping to hear someone say, “I'll take care of that aspect of the industry. Your job is to write.” Am I right? Someone who will take the burden off your shoulders, tell the world about your book, make sales for you so you can spend your valuable time sitting at your computer cranking out the next novel.

Fugetaboutit!

I'm a writer too. My second Christy Bristol Astrology… Continue

Poem: September 11, 2001

Failing to understand

why our nation is great,

an opportunity was sought

by souls cowardly lying in wait.

Focused on pure evil

as they have continually done,

an unholy attack was unleashed

on a day now known as 9-1-1.

Via the destruction

of New York's "Twin Towers"

the enemy crushed a symbol

of U.S. monetary power.

Beyond the resources to rebuild,

our country operates from a wealthy mindset;

so we can easily… Continue

Poem: Visionless?

Visionless is no way to be:

having sight, yet unable to see.

Soul's blindness that's dark and deep

indicates your spirit is fast asleep.

Use the Word to ignite your inner spark

and awaken your slumber by the Lord's Light.

To have Life's purpose and meaning for self

promotes character and personal delight.

Having vision is intended for all,

so get fitted with some new glasses.

Accomplishments are attainable, provided… Continue

BOOK EXPRESS Cuts Prices By 32%, Challenges Readers

The Amazon Kindle ebook version of titles Rooftop Diva, Fools' Heaven and TARP Town U S A have been reduced in price by 32% from $8.75 to $5.99 each in response to the tough economic conditions many are facing in the country. This places these books at 40% below the cost of many other Kindle ebooks and bucks a growing trend. Recognition that ebooks lack the costs of printing, paper and shipping associated with traditional paper books led to these price adjustments. These titles are also… Continue

My first story rejection

I got a note from AGNI in email a few days ago rejecting a story I submitted to them for possible publication. Ironically, since I've come to understand that the vast majority of submissions are rejected, I actually felt good about the fact that they read my piece and responded to me in a reasonable period of time. I know that not all story submissions are going to work for every single publication I submit to, just because I'd like it to be published.

What's "good" about this… Continue

Blog Novel

I'm having a lot of fun, and finally getting back to doing some creative writing. I'm doing it as a blog novel. It's just for fun. I've been twittering it and putting it on places like stumbleupon to get readers to take a look at my writing style. Hopefully somebody out there will like it, and I've put a link on there for people to click on if they want to purchase a copy of my book Ainsworth. I wonder if anyone else has done this sort of blogging.

Series Or Not A Series

I've posted some research questions concerning readers' interests in series books as opposed to stand alone titles. If you have time to respond to one or more of these questions, it would be helpful. http://booksandboys.blogspot.com
