For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers
July 10th. 2016.
Marketing, promoting, meeting and lecturing: something of a book week really. I didn’t do any lecturing, except to our puppy. Monday was our CHINDI meeting. There’s always a lot said and done at these meetings, but last Monday was entertaining, watching two of our group trying to “live video chat” between their laptops. It worked after a fashion, but their skills, and ours, need polishing. It’s all to do with live chats with readers on our website…

As a toddler, Patrick C. Greene was creating horrors in crayon and magic marker upon every available surface. Not surprisingly, he soon discovered comic books and immersed himself in the fantastic worlds found therein. Horror fiction and films came next, and despite spending nights of terror hiding under covers, he always found himself drawn back…

There have been a lot of changes to Amazon and how it sells books since I broke from my agent and started on this solo indie adventure. A few years ago, the process of self-publishing an ebook was much simpler. You wrote a manuscript, edited, formatted, designed a cover, uploaded the file, and poof… it was available for sale all over the world. If the story you wrote was any good you just might have sold a bunch of copies. If you were hard-working and totally…

Based on a true story, Celeste Leon’s beautifully written debut novel is the story of a young man in 1940s Puerto Rico who wins the lottery, only to realize that, as the title states, luck is just the beginning.
Young Ramon is able to see visions, a gift he inherited from his mother. When he sees a number flash across the sky, he decides to buy a complete lottery…

In a culture that often turns to TV to keep children entertained, parents can balk at the idea of doing arts & crafts projects with them. Not because they do not want to, but often they do not know where to begin. It can look like a mammoth task, but usually the main investment required is a little time and some patience. You do not have to possess an artistic flair to try it, you just need to give it a go and I promise, children love it. This article will also be useful for the cool…

Very often in life, things seem to spin out of control under our noses and before we can even attempt to prevent the damage, our lives are changed forever. A problem in life, that I feel very often becomes an inspiring element of writing for authors, is the idea of being in control. I know that nearly every time terrible or life-changing events happened to me, I always streamlined my creativity into writing to exert and project these emotions onto a form of media that I could…

A depiction of Andersonville Prison by John L. Ransom

We are not motivated
by a sacred concept
of moral regulations;
the heart’s context
of pleasing The Lord,
presses us… forward.
His Love covers sin
and senses of awkward-
ness that afflict us.
Before Him, we come
to offer our praise,
heartfelt thanksgiving
and lives to essay
a lifestyle of Faith.
As His adopted Children,
we’re to mature, grow
and rise above the din
of this World’s…

It’s important to remember that Death,
has been conquered by Christ’s victory;
though our mortal flesh is perishable,
our spirits will rise and we will see
Him in His exalted radiance, as The Son.
Like Him, we too will be raised in glory;
we will be completely reconciled unto God,
with Christ having no sense of animosity
towards us, regarding His experiences
as our propitiation on Calvary’s Cross.
After all, He submitted to The…

July 2nd. 2016
Halfway through the year already and I’m only a third of the way through my latest novel. I had great plans, probably like many writers, and when I see Facebook posts from other writers who are churning out three or four books a year, I wonder where they get the time or stamina from. I am just nudging 30,000 words, which makes the ending seem an awful long way off. I’ve found my story splitting into two parts, but not part one followed by part two. Both halves…

Brian W. Matthews grew up in a small town in southeast Michigan. The oldest of three boys, his days were occupied with school, friends, and when he got older, work. Lots of work. He has been gainfully employed every year since 1977, running the gamut from making pizzas to waiting tables to working in a hospital to being a child therapist. He currently works as a…
