Notions of Poets and Angels

My enthusiasm over joining the community here at Book Marketing Network may be measured by the fact that, upon joining, I immediately created to groups. Hmmm, never did that before.…

Royally Yours

Hello world, thanks to Jerry Bolton, my bud, I've arrived in the land of the Book Marketing Network. Now if I could just find a way to maneuver around in here, I'd be set. Speaking of set, anybody know how to get your book cover set to the right size for viewing? Mine looks short and fat. Speaking of short and fat, it's lunch time.

Poetry Books: Best Options

Question from Poet: I'm 15 years

old and love writing. It's my true passion. I write free verses, modern

poetry. I was just looking for a good publisher. Could you please

assist me through this? I really want to bring out new poetry to the

audience, because people seem to have forgotten poetry and go for Harry

Potter or other fiction genres. I really know I can do this, and will

try my best. I'm still writing and have around 20…

10 Steps to Creating Your Online Business Disaster Plan

I'm a 2005 Hurricane Rita evacuee and fortunately made it through a hellish evacuation process and ensuing hurricane with hardly a scratch. Running from a hurricane and dealing with its landfall isn't something I've ever had to do before, nor is it something I'd ever like to do again. However, as an solo business owner, I'm quite thankful that I have an online business. The fact that I own a virtual company and can operate from anywhere that there's electricity…

It's Hurricane Season Again

It's hurricane season again (actually, the season began June 1), but it rarely gets interesting until at least August or so. We had a not-so-close encounter with Hurricane Dean, which was rumored to be headed Texas' way, but fortunately stayed south of us in Mexico...whew!

Eric and I were talking about evacuating, and he was surprised to learn that I wasn't sure that I would evacuate again (I'm the one who really…

Dreams Deferred and Dreams Fulfilled

At the beginning of 2007, I said I would not make any New Year resolutions because the ones I had made all the previous years should be getting ready to kick in full force and would make any further resolutions unnecessary. That actually turned out to be truer than I would have expected.…

How is your story different?

I formed a friendship with the editor of my publisher and one day asked her what she looked for in manuscripts. Her answer..."A different take on the same old story." Makes sense doesn't it?

She confided in me that they received a lot of manuscripts on domestic violence but most of them were about being abused and still being alive, so there! No directions on how to get out of the relationship safely, no guidance, no helpful advice. It was almost like they needed to just get it out of…

Please listen here to learn about the author, find out what a ghost writer really does and what it takes to collaborate with another author you've never met and who lives an ocean (or two) away. Today's 'Touring the World' virtual book tour stop is at EileenBell.com. Eileen is a friend of mine and a very talented writer, and I was honored when she decided to be one of my hosts on this tour. This past week Eileen has been collecting questions from visitors via email, and I had a lot of fun answering them. Today's post is perfect for anyone who is looking for tips on writing or just general information on what it's like to be a writer.

Isn't this a great industry?

You know that even as I wonder each day what I need to do to market my book, or promote my ministry, or write the next one.... I still can't help but be in awe of what a close-knit family I feel writers are. Every website that I go to devoted to writers has the warmest people asking to be your friend, or offer advice, or listen to you whine, or encourage you to keep going! I can't thing of a single time in my life where I have met people who truly wish you success.... To all writers --- y'all… Continue

Happy Birthday!

Is it real?? Here I am, days away from holding the first novel written by ME, in my hands. At this moment, there are no jitter bugs, butterflies...nothing. I feel calm, almost like that day UPS sits the box of books on my door step is not approaching. I guess it's just the peace of the Lord that's upon me right now and, of that, I can't complain. When that day comes I'll probably breakdown like when I first held both of my baby girls. After all, this book is the "baby" that's been developing in… Continue
