To heal emotional pain, first, you have to acknowledge that you are experiencing it. Unconsciously, we tend how to keep our emotions at bay so we can go through our daily lives with some kind of balance. You have to acknowledge the fact that you face issues every day, and that by the time you get to relax and unwind you often feel the urge to release your pent up emotions. That’s why I write. Writing poetry allows me to access my feelings. It lets me open up to emotions that I did not know I…

My mother has recently passed away. One morning, as I was rummaging through her belongings, I found this book by Peggy Warren called “Very Much a Woman’s Book.” I remember my mother telling me once that she kept her favorite 20-year old book in a special box under her bed. Seeing that there wasn’t any other book present, I guess this was it.
My mother was a writer. She also loved poetry and reading all sorts of books. Peggy’s poetry book reminded me so much of my beloved…

“The Society for the Colonization of Free People of Color of America” or “The American Colonization Society (ACS)” for short, was founded in 1816 to send free African-Americans to Africa as an alternative to emancipation in the United States. The Society was formed in an attempt to satisfy two groups. The first group was made up of philanthropists, clergy and abolitionists who wanted to free African slaves and their descendants and provide them with the opportunity to return to Africa.…

Death is life’s greatest mystery. Is there life after death? The resurrection of Christ is a well-documented event, but did it really happen? Has anyone really come back from the dead? Is there any concrete evidence that this is even possible? Interviewing someone who died is obviously quite challenging, unless you consider a person ‘dead’ whose heart stopped pumping for a few minutes. Well, technically a person is considered medically dead if his heart stops. So, maybe we can start…

Is cheating justified if you are not treated right by your significant other? The answer is not as easy as it sounds. Yes, cheating is frowned upon by the public. Most people would say, “You shouldn’t cheat on your spouse, it’s not right”, and condemn it out of hand. But what if your spouse is abusing you? What if he’s beating you up? Began the week with a Thai curry at a local Thai restaurant in Chichester. It was with the CHINDI authors. There were seven of us there, and it was great to talk about books, writing, self-publishing, ‘do’s and don’ts’ etc. A lot information flowed around the table and it meant I picked up a few tips. I thought I might have found myself a reasonably priced designer to help me with my book jacket. One of the writers there uses her for all his jackets. I…
