Take a moment to breathe

Good morning, writers! I pray this finds you well, ready to enjoy your holiday weekend. For those of you in the States, I hope you're poised and ready to experience a lovely Labor Day, and that you'll be able to fill a bit of it with some writing time.

My week? It's been overwhelming, actually. Horribly hectic. Filled with a gazillion family appointments, all scheduled to be done before college starts up again for the twins. On Tuesday, I sat by my daughter Allison's…

The Kremer Glacier

While in Alaska for the Alaska Writers Group Conference, I discovered that there were over 100,000 glaciers in Alaska but only 700 of them had names. I asked the ranger on the boat if the one I'm pointing to below was named. He said that he didn't think so. So I named it. The Kremer Glacier.

After naming it, I asked him to let everyone on the boat know. He did. So now it is officially the Kremer Glacier. If you'd like a glacier named after you, let me know. I'm thinking of setting up… Continue

Lady Lightkeeper Virtual Book Tour Starts September 3

This is your official invitation to visit me on any or all of my blog tour stops. I'm covering a lot of questions on these interviews and I'm giving away a copy of Widow's Walk to one person at the end of the month. I just need a receipt that shows you bought a copy of Lady Lightkeeper and I'll enter you in the drawing for a copy of Widow's Walk. That seemed like a good…

Sneak Peeks at Good Things to Come

Following the completion of a 364–page novel, a 111–page book of poetry, and a 356–page book of creative nonfiction, all in 2007, my brain went on strike for a while. Fortunately, after some very civil negotiations, it has agreed to get back to work and I can now report on some forthcoming projects.…

My Child's Final Act:Suicide

This book is based on the life, and death of my daughter who committed suicide on September 21, 2001, leaving her four-year-old son behind. She was manic depressive/bipolar, since the age of fifteen. My husband and I are raising our grandson, and eventually adopted him at the age of seven.

I wrote this book to help other families look for some of the signs and symptoms that, I probably should have seen before my daughter took her own life. Donna Rogers ISBN# 1-4241-5078-7

War: What is it Good For?

Edwin Starr asked the Question in his Motown hit record, and he answered it as "Absolutely Nothing!"

No, this blog post is nothing to do with whether troops should be in Iraq or not .... but today's book review is about an Empire that spent nearly 850 years fending off attacks from neighbors before it finally succumbed to the Ottoman Turks in 1453:
