The Greatest Book Ever Written

About 2 1/2 years ago I was doing a book signing at one of our local Christian book stores.  When the signing was over I decided to just look around the store before leaving.  I ended up finding a book I couldn't leave without.

My Dad was always a religious person at heart and before he passed he became even more so.  He told me once that he had read…

Book Marketing Network Author's Article Chosen

I realize I'm not on this site much, but with writing 3 books, editing to help pay bills, 2 online art galleries and... well... please excuse me.

A few months ago, I put out a submission call for articles to be included in the mega-Volume II of my reference book, Write It Right - Tips for Authors. From submissions from a wide array of writer's sites, I have chosen 6 top articles. One of them was by a Book Marketing Network author. Congratulate her, she is:

Ebooks are forever

Ebooks are forever. Think about this sentence for a moment. You write a novel, get it formatted, have a nice cover made up, get an ISBN, and then download it onto Kindle, or Smashwords, or any of the hundreds of ebook distributors, and poof, it’s available globally to anyone with an ereader. Not only that, it will be available until the end of time. That means fifty years from now if I want to show my great grandchild one of my books, all they’ll have to do is type in the title and, poof…

Can You Be THE Winner?

In my eyes, everybody I talk to is a winner; they are too special and unique not to be.

         ~Giovanni Gelati

What I am driving at is really pretty simple. On Saturday September 22nd @ 12PM EST I will be interviewing a slew, yes I just used that word, slew, of Amish genre authors on my blogtalk…

Ellen's Gold - James Walker, Author

Ellen’s Gold – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat; A Book and A Dish; Think With Your Taste Buds
From its frontispiece it was apparent that the book had been published in Augsburg in 1784. It was so dusty that he wondered if it had gone unread and forgotten for nearly as long. What intrigued him about it though were…

Why the recent rise of Islam in the West?

The point of this article is not to assume a direct connection between “terrorism,” whatever that may be, and Islam.  Let me assure both Muslim and non-Muslim readers, that my opinions on the “war on terror” would be in-line with most Muslims.  The U.S is a tyrannical regime, an imperialistic nation, which has succeeded in spreading its McCulture across the world, and this point goes directly to the heart of this article.

Islam, according to more than a few commentators,…

Edge of glory

As I edge ever closer to completion of IMAGINATION, I’ve finally reached the climax weeks (yes I said climax weeks) of novel writing. The book is complete from first sentence to last, and all the plot details, settings, and characters have been worked out and are complete. Now is when I can fully enjoy the novel writing process. Because now, I get to paint all the mental pictures that in my opinion sets my writing apart from normal storytelling. You see, I started my writing life as a young…

Don't Get Lost

That is important to me. It really is.
When you have a child, that is something you think about a lot. As a parent, we have to plan, prepare and teach our children everything we can to protect them. Sometimes, that is all we can do and sometimes that is not enough.
I have probably always known this, but becoming a father has reinforced it. There is one thing more, and it should be the first thing. Trust God.
I could put bars on the windows and my daughter…

Extract from a story on my web site

Sometimes I wonder if I unwittingly contributed to his death.

It is possible, even likely, that he died. I’ll never know, of course, but if I lived nearer I’d probably go to the factory and see what I could find out. There’s an element of guilt somewhere there. The memory of him comes back to me at those odd moments we all experience, when we suddenly feel very aware of ourselves and of our tininess in the universe. How fragile we are! How important we are to ourselves and how…
