Little Eddie the Drummer Boy - A story from the US Civil War

A few days before our regiment received orders to join General Lyon, on his march to Wilson's Creek, the drummer of our company was taken sick and conveyed to the hospital, and on the evening preceding the day that we were to march, a negro was arrested within the lines of the camp, and brought before our captain, who asked him "what business he had within the lines?" He replied, "I know a drummer that you would like to enlist in your company, and I have come to…

Encounters with Hell’s Angels

Well, Eric Von Zipper was a parody of Marlon Brando's character in The Wild One, but his gang was inspired by The Hell's Angels (if the Three Stooges were running it anyway).

More recently, you might remember John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin…

Poem: Gateway of Hope

God can convert my valley of trouble

into an unstoppable gateway of Hope!

With gladness and joy, I still know

that He gives me strength to cope…

with the issues of the current day.

By the grace of God, I’ve been saved;

therefore, I’ve been set free from

the sin that draws me to the grave

and claims my interim, dust covering.

Quenching the dryness of my existence,

Christ’s grace allowed me to succumb

to the pressure of Faith’s…

Poem: Hallelujah!

Transcending the barriers of language,

is a powerful word of… utmost praise;

it’s a personal shout of recognition,

that Jehovah most be honored this day!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Now hear the World, exclaim in unison.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

His majesty is the final conclusion,

that we’ll all reach at the Bema Seat.

Knees will bow and tongues will confess,

that Christ is the Lamb and our Lord;

under His…

Having a Good Week

September 12th.

It has been a good week on both sides of the coin for me, both domestically and literally (book-wise). Medical stuff started the week off for me on Monday: dentist for a small filling in the morning, and in the afternoon my bi-monthly visit to the hospital for my cancer maintenance jab. That evening I was at my book writers group, CHINDI for a pretty full meeting. Two more new faces to remember now and at least one of them will be joining the group…
