Avi Steinberg Running the Books

This novel opened my eyes a little wider. Avi Steinberg has given us a narrative from the other side of life, willingly, the tale of a librarian in a prison. He meets all types of people, both male and female, and

their worlds collide. I am just going to give you a little taste of what is

said on the back cover: ”Running The Books is a trenchant personal exploration

of prison culture and an entertaining tale of one young man’s…

Guest Post Jessica Dee Rohm author of Sugar Tower

The “Indie” Author – Playing Against a Stacked Deck?

Imagine hundreds of thousands of cars lined up at the border, any border, Canada, Mexico…drivers desperate to get in. A thousand border police, glancing at the drivers’ IDs, reacting to a few words, maybe a phrase or two, judging how the

drivers’ cars look, listening for a special voice… guessing at who will succeed

and who won’t in the utopia on the other side of the border. Once…

One Answer to Request For a Donation

Years ago my husband and I were bombarded by businesses asking for donations and well, he decided to respond to one in the most unusual manner. Actually I thought it was funny and so I’m posting it for you to read. I was to the Humane Society and to be honest they had a sense of humor about it. In return we actually sent them a check. Here is the response to the letter sent by ‘Little Bit’, a shelter pet.

Dear Little…

10 Things I Hate About You

I watched that movie the other day and as always I cried during the part when Julia Stiles’s character Kat read her poem in class, declaring why she hates Heath Ledger’s character Patrick. It reminded me so much why I hate love stories, hate the idea of romance and hate falling in love for it invites another person into your emotions and gives them the ability to see your vunerabilities. No body enjoys the idea of another person having that type of control over them,…

The Ogre

I was challenged by a friend named Kristy to do the Write or Die challenge. For those of you who do not know what it is, its a site where you have a certain about of time to write as much words during a certain about of time, 30, 60 to 90 minutes. We did the 60 minute challenge and though I lost (I came in second, nah, nah Franny! LOL) I wrote a cute little story in honor of my husband. I called it the Ogre. I read it to him and he thought it was cute. Hope you enjoy…

Tink of Doom!

Today is a many splendid thing (pauses to ponder such a weird thing coming from my mouth then shrugs). The sun is hidden somewhere behind the greying clouds that threaten to drop water as soon as I step forth from my house. I wonder if I race to my car if I’ll make it before I get drenched then figure..eh. Nothing I really want to do outside my own home at the moment. Instead I debate reading a book or cleaning out the garage… Continue

Asras and Absalom

Slowly, with deliberate, elegant steps, Asras made her way down to the deepest part of her Realm, noting that the farther she went, the darker it got. After finding the hidden door way in her private chambers earlier that morning she had wanted to explore, curious as to where it lead, but instead she had to wait until after her meeting. Not too long ago the Nine Lords and Ladies of her…

Death

Glorious colors followed wherever she went, flower to flower, smelling their perfume and tasting their sweet nectar. Humming she went, glancing at the field around her. Violets, pinks, blues, reds and yellows, a whole rainbow of flowers for her alone.

A breeze came, lifting her high into the air, taking her away from home. Free she is, happy to live, for only a few…

The Dream

I see him.

Sitting on an ebony stallion, motionless as a statue.

Dark…Cold.

A warrior strong.

I feel his strength from where I stand.

Power radiating.

Enclosed in armor.

Black.

Breast plate, greaves, boots and gauntlets. Black leather covers his legs.

His face is hidden.

A full, black helm covers his head. Coarse black horse hair and ribbons…

A Quick Hello

Just starting this blog thing and it should be interesting since I’m not good at keeping things up regularly. I have a blog on my myspace and a few other places and only post when I actually remember. Seems my brain is a bit like a sieve, things go in but tend to drain out quickly.

Well, I’m a writer and the things I write tend to be what I enjoy reading…action, paranormal, dark urban fantasy with a touch of romance. I’m currently having fun with… Continue

Self -Published Sunday Mark Bouton How to Spot Lies Like The FBI

I really don’t read non –fiction too much, this though book I thought I needed to give a shot. I am really a poor poker player and at the very least I felt this could elevate my game so that I wouldn’t lose as many

pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. My buddies better look out now, not to

mention my youngest daughter when we play go fish. But seriously, this is a serious,

fact filled book that has many excellent tips that can help anyone.…
