The National Novel Writing Month Contest is over, for me anyway. I completed my novel, all 62K+ words of it (280 page) and now I am going to set about publishing it; it’s my “Instant Karma” experience. In February of 1970 John Lennon wrote a song called “Instant Karma” and then he recorded it later the same day he wrote it; it was finished and released to public only ten days later and is considered one of the fastest releases of a pop song to this date (some 40 years later). That’s what this…

We have all spent way too much money on things that quickly clog the landfills; cheap things with no lasting value. As a matter of fact, we are urging our customers not to use credit cards for purchases but advocating the use of debit cards.…

It is rare that you find a company that truly believes in an author's success. You find individuals and companies with claims, but rarely do you find a company that not only walks the walk, but talks the talk. ZLS Publishing is that kind of company. Take a look at their blog, and you will see they provide publishing tips for authors that other publishing companies won't reveal.

I'm so pleased that the management at The Mayflower Sanctuary, where we first found Tilly, have given Tilly's Tale a lovely write up in their regular newsletter that goes out to all of their supporters and interested persons. they not only featured the book and the cover, but included pictures of Tilly, Dylan and Charlie who of course all came to us through The Mayflower. It's a lovely, kind gesture by Jennie and the staff at Mayflower and I'm so very grateful to them for the…

Hi all,
Today I posted a new review for “Mazurka” written by Aaron Paul Lazar on Novel Works.
About the author: Lazar writes to soothe his soul. The author of LeGarde Mysteries and Moore Mysteries enjoys the Genesee Valley countryside in upstate New York, where his characters embrace life, play with their dogs and grandkids, grow sumptuous gardens, and chase bad guys. Visit his websites at
www.legardemysteries.com and…

I just returned from a speaking/promotion event in the Mexican Caribbean. It was a cruise saluting Veterans, very patriotic (I am a Vietnam Era vet). I was on a panel of authors talking to the vets about writing their memoirs. We got together later with the travel agent who pulled together the trip and pitched the idea of a mystery cruise. I came up with the title: Murder On the High Seas: A Cruise To Die For.
I heard today that the travel agent can pull it together by next fall. 7 days…

Since I became a “Facebook” person a couple of months ago, I see hundreds more photos of people than I ever did before. You know the little picture in the person’s profile. Some people use a cartoon character or some logo they seem to have bonded with rather than their own face. A lot of folks use their pet’s picture. Why would you use your Schnauzer as your profile photo? Let your dog get his own Facebook page. And what are you supposed to say to the dogfaced guy if you ever meet him? “Hey you…

Every year, it is estimated that over one million books are published worldwide. But if you don’t have an agent or a publishing contract, how can you get your masterpiece out to a discerning public and call yourself an ‘author’ at last?
By selling online, that’s how. The advent of the ‘online bookshop’ has revolutionised the way publishing works. Now, people don’t just have to buy a hard copy book from a book store – they can download it from an…

In a perfect world we would give all our music away for free and survive on touring revenue, merchandising and licensing income. Alas this is not always possible. In order to eat we have to sell a few CD’s. The good news is that much of our catalog has been released under this creative commons license

Author Behcet Kaya draws on his vast knowledge of Turkish and Muslim customs and traditions, captivating his audience from the first chapter. We first meet the Ozcomert family in Atamkoy, Turkey in 1962: Ramzi Sr., his wife, Nermin, their beautiful daughter, Erin, and son, Ramzi Jr. The scene is set for a traditional wedding when Erin is engaged to Turkel with both families' blessing. The elder from the rival Korucu family has decided that he…
