Poem: The Partridge in the Pear Tree

The symbolism of this Christmas classic

has a second, hidden meaning for the ages.

For this song has an ulterior motive,

contained in verses that seem outrageous.

Christ is the truest fulfillment of Love,

in the primary doctrine of Christianity;

therefore, He is the focus of each refrain,

being the sin offering on Crucifixion’s tree.

The pair of turtle doves represents books,

volumes of both the Old and New Testaments.

The Bible embodies…

Book Review: ‘Beware of the White’ by Kai Strand

This middle-grade novel was an entertaining, delightful read!

Terra is a sweet, smart girl, very close to her mom, and not what one might call popular at school. In fact, she’s often a bit bullied at times. She also suffers in silence for the death of her dad years ago.

The action begins soon after Terra’s 12th birthday, when she receives an…

The results of what may or may not work part #3

Okay, now that my latest promotions are nearing their ends I can safely post my opinions of each of them. As I said from the start, I was trying something new with these latest promotions. Instead of booking one-day sponsorships for large amounts of money on some very popular websites I figured I’d try more long-term placements for less money and see how they fare.

First I’d like to say that I have had some success with sites like Bookgorilla and…

Foot Soldiers by Paddy Bostock

A brilliant, hilarious story.

Initially they have little hope of success, particularly as their captive refuses to be freed…

Cosmogonic Marbles

"Simply put, if you like your kicks on the surreal side, look no further. This title would sit comfortably with many in the Pratchett collection, and at times (usually after spilling my coffee over the sofa, sides split) was left wondering if It wasn't a hidden Adams'." ...Review on amazon…

Getting Through Locked Doors

I’ve just finished reading a thriller by a top author and found myself disappointed with the way in which he elevated his two main characters to an almost Superman and Wonder-woman level. Why so? As a writer myself, I do try (hopefully) to give my characters a vulnerability that is natural in a human being, which I believe is only fair to the readers. If I fail to do that I can then make them do anything without any apparent difficulty. How often have you read of a character who manages to…

Fascinated by Good & Evil - T.J. Akers

The topic of good and evil has always fascinated me since I was four years old and teaching myself to read from comic books. Yes, I learned to read from comic books before I "learned" to read in the first grade. My teacher was fascinated at how "intuitive" I was in my reading, but if I never told her what I was reading at home, she would have…
