Plot Driven or Character?

As a reader or a movie and video watcher gets through with a viewing or reading a book, one can say, “yeah, I see how that went and fit together.”  But as an author and a writer putting things down on paper or in a file ……. It isn’t easy.

A few years back I attended a weekend writer’s conference. One of the speakers was First Blood author David Morrell who gave a great talk on his career, working on the TV show of Route 66, referring to himself as “Rambo’s…

Poem: His Love of Words

He will make a way for me,

but I’ve got to do my part.

I must keep moving forward…

with His promises in my heart.

Staying in faith, not worried

about who’s holding me back;

I continue to press ahead

in His supply, without lack.

Everything is simple for God

and it’s a fact I’ve accepted;

this kinship persists, seeing…

that we are divinely connected.

Heaven’s Husbandman grafted me

into the sacred Vine for Himself;

His…

Making progress and meeting other authors

I made some progress last week with my manuscript, but it was more of a reviewing of my work and learning to put it on Scrivener at the same time. It will take a while yet, notwithstanding the fact that Christmas will get in the way. I’ve no trouble with that. After all; Christmas is to be enjoyed and used as a time to forget the pressures, whether self-imposed or not, that we all have to endure throughout the year. I also resurrected my attempts to get an acceptable, book jacket uploaded to…

Lead, Cyanide and Food Poisoning

Lead, Cyanide and Food Poising

It has been confirmed that children whose blood stream contain five times or more than their healthy peers are less intelligent, with lower IQs. They may have impaired kidney, anemia, severe stomachache, muscle weakness, and brain damage. The extent of damage depends on how long they have been breathing in lead-contaminated air, and consumed lead-contaminated water and food. Other sources of lead dust are from industrial paints, gasoline, and…

Author Fay Risner has Guest Interview on Ognian Georgiev's Word Press Blog

I really appreciated the chance to do an author interview on Ognaian Georgiev's Word Press Blog. This was the first time I'd been asked. I clicked all the buttons at the bottom of the interview and have received comments on Facebook and sold seven books to a local library in 24 hours after Ognaian emailed the interview was posted.

Ognaian's book sounds interesting and I'm going to read it.

The White Prisoner:Galabin Boevski's secret story by author Ognian Georgiev on…

Greedy Retailers

When you are shopping, you are sure to come across offers which are too-good-to-be-true deals, just ignore them. It will be very expensive to buy those items. All those cheats use bullying antics towards aggrieved buyers, and if you are in a country which is corrupt, there is nothing you can do to have your money back, because those thugs have friends at high places. Economic corruption and political thuggery are most common in those countries.

On the whole, Singapore has a…

Book one in the Tannion series now available

My first book to be published.

Book one in the Tannion series now available

  Tannion

Lightning is always powerful and occasionally deadly. The bolt that hit Jim Tannion however was different. It gave him skills and abilities that made him think he could be the closest thing to a superhero the world had ever seen. Skills he could use to heal any injury, enhance his body, and control the bodies of others with only a touch. Then he found he could…

This is my first attempt at a novella. For several years, I entered short story contests to sharpen my writing skills. I knew I couldn't be too bad when I placed in most of the contests. I've turned some of the short stories into books such as Christmas Traditions-An Amish Love Story and The Dark Wind Howls Over Mary, a western. Still I have a bunch of short stories to expand…
