At the
Aspiring Author we've been discussing some of the reasons writers are
aspiring authors instead of published authors.
Performance anxiety and insecurity, lack of time, lack of support, and not being honest about the quality of the work were just some of the reasons provided by published and aspiring authors.
We've begun to…

I just returned from a road trip from Texas to Illinois, crossing through Oklahoma and Missouri on the way. Much of this trip took us along Route 66. As any seasoned road-tripper knows, one passes ancient gas stations and Greyhounds. (We called them Road Dawgs when I worked there.) Truckers and trains. Red barns in various stages of beautiful decay. Yawning green pastures dotted with all forms of newly born animals. Fruit stands selling local plums and peaches. Waterways with names like Honey…

There are now just two days left in which to cast votes in The Authors Lounge Cover Art Design Awards for May 2008.
I feel privileged that 'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' was lucky enough to be nominated. The artwork for the book was created by the highly talented
Deron Douglas at Double Dragon Publishing, Markham, Ontario, and, if anyone who hasn't voted yet would care to do so, I'd appreciate any frinedly votes that may come my way. Pllease visit…

Sweeter and more delicious than chocolate…
I have friends who are a little nutty, some who are just a hoot, some creative, others loving, some generous, and others who are a walking image of Christ…and this weekend in Dallas, I just happened to be with two who possess all said attributes.
I attended a speaking engagement outside of Dallas. After I spoke, my dear friends picked me up and graciously invited me to their home for the evening.
There we were, chatting…

HANG UP THE PHONE!
10 to 15 years ago, the number of people who owned a cell phone was much less than it is today.
I can remember having a cell phone when many people didn’t. However, post-9/11 has made having a cell a necessity. I know this is true, being a person born and raised in New York City.
Cell phones should be used while driving only in the case of emergencies. They should be used with hands-free devices such as earpieces or Bluetooth equipment. There…
