Chapter One - Tangled Hearts by Rosemary Morris

TANGLED HEARTS

CHAPTER ONE

Fothering Place, London, England1702

Lord Chesney sat at ease in his lodgings and eyed his friend, Jack, Duke of Hertfordshire, whose tall frame was clad in extravagant silk and velvet. Gem set rings, illuminated by brilliant candlelight, adorned his long fingers and His Grace’s dark amber eyes were alert. His square face with its cleft chin looked tense while he toyed with his blond periwig.

His eyes keen, Jack spoke. ‘My bailiff… Continue

For my fellow authors, something about writing

Showing vs. Telling:

That rule is driving me crazy, why? Because it's easier to tell than show. But I am still learning this rule. And it's not easy only because I am a new writer. The more I write and learn the rule the more I see how important it is and how the story strengthens.

Telling:

Three years ago, Kristina Johnson married John Hudson. Although both had grown up in London, England and didn't want to leave, John had accepted a job in Spain and… Continue

Worse than cancer or any disease...

Worse than cancer or any disease…

…is the fear of public speaking. Have you ever heard that? Hard to believe. But I can sort of agree. When I was in school, I’d rather die than get up in front of the class. Tiny demons of torment jabbed at me through each minute of speech class in my freshman year of high school.

Then something happened - at the age of thirty-two I lost my sight. And when I settled in the arms of the Lord, confidence rose, security flourished, fear… Continue

Book promotion...with a little help from a friend

Even God took a day of rest from His work, so in this writer's life today, I tried to stay away from the computer. I bought Easter dresses for my girls, helped them practice their ballet steps and read a good bit of Horton Hears a Whoo.

While out shopping, some marketing wizards stacked at least 100 stuffed Hortons right, smack in the front of the store, in front of my 3 and 4 year olds. So now, Horton, is a part of our family, already showing his preference for fine literature (and… Continue
