How to Hire Some Help and Give Yourself a Raise

"There's no way I can hire anyone to do what I do. No one can do it as well as I can."

Do you resemble that remark? If so, you've got much in common with most other

business owners in the world. We never think that anyone else will give

something the time, attention, and dedication that we will. And, you're right,

to some degree. No one cares as much about your business as you do. However, if

you don't choose to delegate those…

The Last Harry Potter: An Ethicist's Perspective (I won't spoil the surprise)

Both as a long-time fan of the series and as someone who writes regularly about ethics both in my blog and in my award-winning sixth book, Principled Profit: Marketing That Puts People First, I want to talk for a minute about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

There's so much I could say about this latest (and final) Harry Potter… Continue

Exhaustion suffocates creativity...

Today was hot and horrid, as days go. Nothing particularly bad happened, just one of those days that beats you to a pulp and leaves you struggling for air.

When I got up this morning I had many things on my todolist for today. I figured I'd whip them off one by one and be done by noon, when I needed to start playing taxi driver for the kids, but that didn't happen. About an hour into my list the phone began to ring, life began to get in my way, and I suddenly realized God had a…

Hi all,

First of all, Hello!

Second, I have a question based on the recent note in John's newsletter about people sending in less than polished letters to edtiors etc.

It continues to amaze me that writers do this, especially when they have more access to editors than the average person. I'm wondering if people don't seek out editing because they feel embarassed they need help writing as a writer, or if it's to save time, don't know who to turn to etc.

Whether you'd like to…

Just outside the vacuum...

This morning I was busy posting to my website a new article I'd written and I realized I hadn't edited it completely. There was a paragraph at the bottom that didn't make as much sense as I had hoped it would. My cutsy details were missing definition and comprehension, so I took them out.

Then I considered how often I find myself editing out a 20 second slot of work on a book... It's pretty often. When the reality is that what I wrote to begin with belongs in the book. But, editing…

Writing is not the real challenge

I always thought writing was a challenge. It was my passion, but at the same time I felt it was challenging. How could that be? What I learned is that it wasn't really writing at all that was a challenge, it was myself. What I mean is that is was pracrasination, doubt, inconsistancy, can I really accomplish this, and the like.

I am happy to say I've gotten past that. Well, at least for the most part. I now read a lot and I write a lot to improve my craft of writing. And I only think…

Just today ---

I finished a report I wanted to share with my business leaders about Multi-streams of Income. You can get a copy of the report at http://jvpublications.com/marketing.htm

I'm actually rather excited about this one. I've been putting out reports and articles online for several months now, and this one has been a high-impact seller in just one day. When I checked my sales earlier I was amazed at the number already sold, and not even…
