Ray Bradbury Helped Me Get Published

As a Language Arts teacher, I can’t tell you how many times my students have delved their reluctant heads into the pages of Fahrenheit 451, only to bring their young minds, burning with impressionable thoughts, up and faced me with fire in their eyes. It is a burning desire for teachers to strike that spark into a student’s head. Mr. Bradbury’s books had the power to do that!

So, when I finally met the living legend, my own heart burned with an intensity, a flame that…

How I Blew My Chance to Score with Madonna

Somehow, I keep getting myself into these Forest Gump, Box of Chocolates experiences. It's so crazy!

One day, me and my college buds, Scott, English Bobby and I can’t remember who else, went into the club called THE WORLD in Alphabet City, like on 1st Street, I think. Scott was somewhere wooing the chicks, as usual. Me and English Bobby took a stroll upstairs looking for more chicks, and then English Bobby says, “Ace, that’s Madonna!” I’m like, “Nuh-uh, where?”

HOW DID YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY INFLUENCE YOU INTO BECOMING A WRITER?

Amazon.com

I had a difficult though interesting childhood, and lived a good deal inside my own head, which

could usually be found in a book.   From the time I could find my way to the

Saint John Library, I was a constant visitor. For me, the library was a

magical place - a hushed, warm haven where, through the…

Another independent, local bookstore has the book!

I managed to cross state lines and get another book into an indie bookstore! If you're in Mississippi go and check out Bay Books on Main street. The owner is very accomodating and she has two very cool cats that take up residence inside. Most importantly, you can get a copy of I Wandered from New Orleans right off the shelf! In real live bookstores in New Orleans, Mississippi and Atlanta! It's too bad that poetry is mostly disregarded by people as being too complicated and vague.…
