Your chance to chat with me

Beginning August 5, 2013 through August 14, 2013—I will begin what I call Skype chats. I’m setting aside two hours a day for seven days to chat with people about my true crime, Killer Nurse.

A schedule of the chat times is below. I will set aside 10 minute time slots for everyone who wants to participate. You will have ten minutes of one-on-one time to talk to me and ask questions.

This may sound difficult and or expensive, but it is actually neither.…

Something to see

I published my first book, Code of Deceit, in 2007, and I was fortunate enough to have it hit several best-seller lists. I followed that one with Journey of the Spirit—now renamed The People’s Warrior. This one, a historical fiction did fairly well. It was even voted second best in the mainstream category by readers.

Then In 2008, I published Cold Tears. This book exceeded all my expectations, and I have high ones. Voted the best mystery in the world, the sales and accolades…

What's Heart's Haven?

Angel Falls. A sweet little fictional town in East Texas, tucked right up against the gorgeous (and very real) Angelina National Forest. Just outside Angel Falls is a piece of property owned by a crotchety bachelor named Andrew Hart. This taciturn elderly gentleman has a…

Featured in the Beaumont Enterprise

As I have been racking my brain for a new novel plot, I recently checked my email and discovered a request from a reporter for the Beaumont Enterprise.

She asked if I would give her an interview regarding my novel, "The Long Road from…

Discovering another Groves, Texas author

The other day, just for the hell of it, I googled "authors from Groves, Texas."  I was expecting to see authors closeto Groves, but no cigar.  Well, I was wrong.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered Mary Karr's name staring back at me.  I guess there was a…

What is it About Southeast Texas?

I've had professors tease me that only Blues singers come from this area, the rest o.d.

and live their life as a memory held by others.  He was partly right.  There are

ALOT of musicians from this area.  And, yes...most have a blues connection.

I've already mentioned that Janis Joplin was our most famous resident but there

are many others who have made a name for themselves.  There are also musical

families that have passed the gift from father to sons and…

Being an Odd Duck in Beaumont, Texas

Post from JR's notes-

In "The Long Road to Extradition," part of the plot involves Nicholas discovering his sexuality and falling in love. In the time reference of the book, being gay was still a very difficult subject for a small town to embrace of it's citizens. In fact, it could be downright dangerous. While the gay community has made tremendous strides in equal rights, there is obviously still alot of work to do.

There is a reason I portrayed the MC, Nicholas as gay. In…

Have You Ever Been to the Golden Triangle?

Since my novel is set in Groves and Beaumont, Texas, I thought I would introduce you to my hometown. People from this area call it the "G-T," short for Golden Triangle. The reason why is pretty simple, the areas that are listed together as a community form the shape of a triangle if you were to look on a map (Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange). Some of the better known areas are: Beaumont and Port Arthur.…

Payback in Wayback - Lynda Coker, Author

Payback in Wayback – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat

‘Self-derision mocked him. What did he expect after spending twelve

years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit? How did he forget the

4,380 days he’d waited for answers, and for the woman who never came?

Was it not supposed to matter? Truth was – it did. It was why he’d

come back to Wayback.’

Corey had served his… Continue

New Book Released Today!

My newest ebook, Scent of Lavender, is available for download from Cerridwen Press. This is my second paranormal romance and I hope you’ll find it as eerie and romantic as the first. And for my fellow Texans, the story is set in our very own Hill Country area, complete with whispering oak trees and murmuring creeks, scorching afternoon sunlight and spine-chilling twilight, and a spooky old Victorian house with more than its share of secrets.

For those of you who haven’t yet tried… Continue
