Books that changed me

This is my second post tonight; just feel like posting. Give me five minutes - my six year old wants me to read him a bedtime story - glad he likes reading and books - by the way, I'm in Australia, and it's 8.28pm here as I type this, so please don't think I keep my kids up to ungodly hours.

In one of the Sunday newspapers here in the book review section, they ask a reviewed author to list five books that 'changed' them. I often dream up my answer for when they interview me!…

Slightly Maudlin Musings from a very sleepy writer

Have just watched a movie - 'Kids' from 1995. Very confronting, and deals with underage sexual activity. One of the characters is diagnosed HIV positive. This is the most depressing movie I have seen since 'Hunger'. But I don't mind a depressing movie occasionally. Life is not all beer and skittles. But right now I'm ready to go and stick my head in the toilet.

I've been looking online at local libraries and book clubs to plug my new novel 'Abernethy' - young adult fiction. Not back from the printer yet. But got to get that ball rolling, hey? My new novel is my first foray into Young Adult, and I've enjoyed it. Am also in the process of organising a launch - will probably have it at my local art gallery as the library is undergoing major renos. Normally, I'm a satirist, but I enjoyed writing 'Abernethy'. The titular character is a beagle, who was…

I've just uploaded a photo of the front page of my novel 'Calumny while reading Irvine Welsh' to my page on this site. Oh, how I'm enjoying my foray into the 21st century. Have also been liaising back and forth with the editor re my upcoming novel 'Abernethy', which is young adult fiction about a teenage boy's friendship with a magic beagle. Am trying to think of some other ways to drum up publicity for 'Abernethy' - perhaps a series of signing at libraries in nearby towns? I live in rural New… Continue
