Do You Really Need All Those Semicolons...?

Hey guys!

Helpful editing tip: remove extra punctuation. A powerful hyphen here and thought-provoking semicolon there can be effective, but a story riddled with all sorts of punctuation (parentheses, colons, ellipses, etc.) doesn't flow well. You can often eliminate these extra pieces of…

Hey guys, another quick proofreading tip: give a copy of your manuscript to another person, and keep a copy for yourself. Then take turns reading it out loud to each other, and while one of you reads, the other follows along to catch any errors.

Helpful Editing Tip: Drop The Passive Voice

Hey guys, another helpful editing tip: drop the passive voice. While it's not technically wrong to use the passive voice, it doesn't help make your writing clearer. Whenever possible, use a strong active voice for both clarification and emphasis.
