I'm still here!

Things are finally getting back to normal so, I hope to hear from people once again. Mother-in-law's ashes rest in a memorial setting in her bedroom and we light candles for her (battery powered) every night. I put a photo of it on my page. I'm writing again while my wife finally gets her medical workup after 30 years of taking care of everyone else to her detriment. She's finding out that being over 60 isn't the bed of roses she believed it would be. I'll be taking time to do… Continue

Getting it back

Since my wife's Mom passed it has been hard to get started or rather restarted on the project. It seems the writing has become darker-more foreboding. I think it's a good thing since I have developed my demon priest into something no one wants to meet in a dark alley. I expect to continue more on a daily basis-called manning up to the task regardless of that which surrounds me. There's still no joy with the first book-I don't know what I'm doing wrong except with working full time at the…

Sorry to be away for so long

And so, she passed away. After almost 29 years living with her daughter and me, her daughter's husband, she passed away. It was Tuesday, 12 January at about 0530. She had refused to eat or drink those last three days. Her breathing was so shallow-stoking is what they call it-shallow and short. She just went to sleep and everything stopped. My wife called me to come home-I'd been at work for almost a hour-she was crying almost uncontrollably. She was alone with her mom when it happened. I got… Continue

Received via email from our daughter

RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart.

This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed "Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily… Continue

A group

I live in San Diego, California-the city actually-with a wife, mother-in-law, four dogs and a bird. We have the requisite morgage and SUVs. I was surprised to find so few writers calling San Diego home. Anyway, I started a group called San Diego, California Writers-went through the entire listing of Ning and invited those who call San Diego their place of residence. Of course, anyone and everyone is invited-the more the better.

What I have in mind, maybe, is to gather enough folk to have a… Continue

Blocked

I'm blocked and my outline has failed me. I keep hoping for a knock in the beanie to get me started again. My wife says I need a break. You see, I get up at 0345 to go to my day job. I get home just about 1500. I eat supper, and at 1600 I feed the four dogs finishing up around 1700. Then, it's quality time with wifey-poo. It's bed time at 2000 where I mull/meditate my next move with the book-usually keeping my mind going till 2300 or so when I finally go out. I think there's something wrong… Continue

Not writing lately

Oh! The pain was tremendous. Oral surgery is no fun. I had the last of my teeth pulled last week, and I'm not happy. It was, of course, the smoking-40 years of it. But, then, 40 years ago who knew. Anyway, the "happy" gas didn't work, and the needles seemed to hurt more this time than any time before. I'm healing quite well-taking big time Ibuprofen and an antibiotic. The stitches come out on 18 September. I wonder why one can take rather large body blows, but when it comes to anything… Continue

Wondering what to do now

I've never been one for putting myself out there for all the world to see. When I went to the Navy instructor school I expected to sit quietly while the uniformed folk did what was necessary. When I learned it was a public speaking class for all intents and purposes I had a slight case of light headedness. I did what I had to do and passed, but it took me all of six months to get over the shaking bit while still trying to do my job as an instructor. Of course we all communicate regularly with… Continue
