The Coach Gets Some Coaching

Even though I think I do pretty well in my online business, there's always room for improvement. So, the Online Biz Coach (that would be me <g>) has decided to get some coaching. I've enrolled in the Marketing Mastery Program with Alexandria Brown to help me kick my business into high gear in 2008. Just like most of you, I need kicks in the rear-end to remind to take time off and…

The Secret of Customer Appreciation

Typically during the months of November, December, and January, online business owners feel the urge to say "thank you" -- to their blog/ezine readers, to their clients and customers, and to their business colleagues. In recent years, this often means sending a mass email card to an email mailing list, which, if you're on the receiving end of such a missive, feels about as personal as junk mail addressed to "Occupant." Snail mail cards are not much better…

Rested and Relaxed from Vacation

I've taken a bit over a week off from my business, and quite frankly, it wasn't enough time...:). I didn't do anything terribly exciting except cook (after our Christmas Eve get-together, I've sworn off cooking until at least March! <g>), and eat, sleep, read 4 books, and watch movies. My mom dropped by for a visit, and one of my fiancé Eric's overtime days was canceled, so we had some unexpected weekend time…

How to Hire Some Help (a Virtual Assistant) and Give Yourself a Raise

Note: Since we're headed for a new year (and I'm headed out on vacation), many of my clients are making their 2008 plans for their businesses. One of the most

important strategies is realizing that you can't do it all yourself, but you

can't quite convince yourself that getting some help would increase your bottom

line. I'm running this very popular article again to help you make that

decision..:)…

Do You Ask Too Much of Yourself?

I was speaking with my fiancé, Eric, on the phone yesterday and telling him about the progress I was making toward creating our

Christmas feast. I like to create a bunch of appetizers to snack on all day,

rather than cooking one big meal, and try to make those the week before the

holiday so I don't kill myself cooking the day or two before our celebration. I

told Eric that I hadn't done much that…

Top 10 Steps to Creating a Successful Business Retreat for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs

The notion of

doing a business retreat for myself is very new, although not novel, as we used

to conduct a retreat each year as a part of both the Student Affairs staff and

the Residence Life staff at the college where I once worked. When I heard about

this same concept for self-employed business owners from Chris Barrow of

The Business Coaching…

How Much Money Are You Losing During the Holiday Season?

Earlier this week I went online to buy a gift certificate to a well-known local restaurant in a nearby city (I'll keep both

the name of the business and the city name anonymous to protect the guilty

<g>.). I found the restaurant's website easily enough, but there was absolutely

no way to purchase anything online from them. I was dumbfounded. This is a

restaurant that does VERY well, makes…

How to Sell and Market Your Ebook in 10 Easy Steps

Electronic books, or ebooks, are one of the quickest ways to make yourself an infopreneur, or someone who makes money by selling information. As a service business owner, it's also a simple way to sell the information that you have spent countless hours amassing to all of those who want to buy what you know but who cannot afford to hire you as a service provider.

The most effective way to market your ebook is via a one-page website. If you already have…

Working When You're Not Feeling Well

This past Saturday I strained an abdominal muscle, and have been in some serious pain in the days following. It wasn't until I figured out how to immobilize myself in Eric's recliner on Sunday that I began to feel some relief. By Monday, I still wasn't feeling anywhere near normal, but had some tasks that HAD to be completed, so I set out to do those first thing, and then back to the recliner for more… Continue

How to Write a Killer "How to" Article in 7 Easy Steps

The most effective strategy that I've used to date to promote myself online, establish my expertise, and develop a following has been to write at least one quality "how to" article weekly and get that submitted to online article banks and directories. I love writing these "how to" articles in a tips format, i.e. 7 Secrets to...or 5 Strategies to Help You...or How You Can Do (something) in 6 Easy Steps. Why? Because people browse the Internet for fr*ee…

Hitting the Ground Running

I'm back from vacation and am fairly well rested and rejuvenated. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, as we were met with cold, rainy weather instead of the sunny, dry weather I'd hoped for. The ocean view was nice, however, despite the wind and rain, and Eric and I even discussed the possibility of moving to a coastal community sometime in the future (in Eric's words, "When you're rich as Oprah.") Guess…
