I don’t mean the random dreams you have while sleeping. I mean your dreams for the future, thethings you long to do. Inside each of us is beauty and wonder. We were made to do more than slog through the day. Your mind is filled with possibilities! What does your heart long to do? if you could- what would you do?

Think about it for a moment? If you could do anything, what would it be? Now, ask yourself this: Why aren’t you? Most of the time it is not that we can’t do a thing- it is that we think we can’t! Now if you wanted to fly like Superman, maybe you do have an excuse! Most of us do not have that kind of dream though. We long to have different jobs, or live different places. We want things we could have, if we believed in ourselves and were willing to do the work.

Stop telling yourself you can’t, and start moving in the direction of your goal. it reminds me of the person who wrote Dear Abby years and years ago. They said they wanted to be a doctor, and had the chance to go to medical school but were not sure if they should. They were older than the typical student, so wondered if it was foolish at their age to try for that dream. Dear Abby asked them how old they would be if the didn’t go in eight years? Well, of course the age would be the same if they did or did not go to medical school. Nothing was going to change that. What would change is whether or not there were going to be a doctor at the end of those eight years.

We can be like that. We think of the down side- the eight years, and refuse to see that we are going to use those years anyway- might as well be for getting to our goal! Another thing, you can not get to a place you don’t head for. No one is going to wave a wand over your head and magically take you to your dream. Dreams are only the beginning!! Then comes the work! So push up your sleeves and get to it! A dream worth having is worth working for!

One more thing. There will ALWAYS be people who will tell you that your dreams are stupid. I don’t know why that is, but it is true. Stop asking others to believe in you. Believe in yourself!! Once you reach that dream, they will believe with you! Show them what you are made of! God made you full of possibilities! Unlock the dream in you! Now go get to work! Hugs, Barbara
