Be Nice To Someone You Don’t Know Today!

June 25th, 2008
What kind of an idea is that you ask? I will tell you, a good one!! Think about it. If each of us would just go out of our way today ( everyday??) to smile that extra smile, or say that sweet word, or open a door for someone, our world would be brighter. it really does matter.

In my book Polka-dot Star Flowers: Real Help for Real People, I give examples of this. It really does change the atmosphere all around us when we are looking to be nice- to make someones day a little brighter. The next time you go to a store, instead of being mad you are waiting in line, enjoy the time. Smile at the person next to you. Tell them they look nice. You would be amazed at the change in people. I have had grumbling people standing next to me begin to smile and talk up a storm- how? By me saying one nice thing to them. Just one nice thing. One.

Think I am full of hot air? I dare you to try it. Ask the cashier if they are having a nice day. Even the ones who are not, will begin to, just by you asking! Smile as you hand over your savings card. Say thank you. Tell people to have a nice day. I have yet to have it not work. A smile and a sweet word always make people feel good. We were designed to enjoy each others company. It comes naturally to us when the door is open. Open the door. Words open doors to peoples hearts. We all need each other. On every level we depend on each other. No one walks this world alone- even if they think they can.

One more thing. As you go about spreading sunshine, guess what? Your day will be brighter too. Blessings to you this beautiful day! By the way, I love your smile! Hugs, Barbara
