Did you know there are books written to provide such information? I can see the need, the hunger to know the secrets, and the tips for a better experience coveted by visitors who yearn to get a close-up glance at Mickey Mouse.

This thought is fresh in my mind as two friends and I visited EPCOT this past week. Goodness those lines! When I learned a 70-minute wait was on the horizon, thoughts immediately raced through my head—the myriad of tasks I could accomplish during those same minutes. The temptation is pulsating…you know what I mean…find a reason to get at the front of the line, beat the system, or come up with an excuse to get ahead of those hundreds of people. Anything to bypass that waiting period. But in reality that won’t happen.

Having no option, we waited, entertained by the games Disney so cleverly provides to make the wait bearable.

But here's the deal. Waiting is not reserved to theme parks. That same waiting stage fills our lives all the time. When we wait for God’s move in our lives, do we wait patiently? Do we trust to be entertained by the wonder of what He’s doing right this minute?

If you’re like me, I get eager, a bit unlady-like aggressive and shedding any trace of patience, I press forward. And out of breath, when I reach the destination, the disappointment tastes pretty yucky. Rushing ahead of God is as intelligent as eating pizza dough before baking it.

As He ushers us through stages, He reserves information, insights, doors that only He will open—all in His perfect timing. He puts it plainly, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority” (Acts 1:7, NIV).

His authority, not my intuition. His will, not my wants. And His plans not my agenda.
My friend Kris puts this beautifully:

Lord, bless me with the strength to wait on You, as your timing is perfect. Ease my impatience and encourage me to trust You in all things. Discourage me from racing ahead of You in an attempt to fulfill the plans I have made, according to my timetable...

Father, I ask that You hold my hand as we patiently wait together for Your Plans to unfold - In Your time, not mine...In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

It's not for me to know,
by God's authority,
the times and dates He's set
for all that is to be.

Got a long line that requires your waiting? I invite you to sit back and look up— He’s crafting a mighty thing while you wait.
