Three Favorite Ways to Promote Your Video Book Trailer

Here are three of my favorite ways to promote your video book trailer … and generate more sales:

  1. Promote on video sharing sites. YouTube is the obvious choice here, but don’t just stop there. Google Video, Yahoo! Video, Veoh, and Grouper are other good options. Also check out Revver, which offers a way to generate revenue from ads inserted into your trailer. For even more ideas, view the list of video sharing sites on Wikipedia.
  2. Promote in your email signature file. Don’t just include a link to your website, also include a link directly to your trailer in every email you send.
  3. Promote on social networking sites. MySpace is popular with many authors whose books attract a young or general interest audience, but there are social networking sites for all ages, interests, and professions (like this one for book authors!). Wikipedia has a great list of options.

I have a couple of trailers on video sites, and also some fun videos that get more views. But anyone clicking on them is brought to my page where they see my trailer vid available for viewing.

One thing very nice about youtube is the "respond with video" feature. You search for keywords close to your concept, check out the videos that come up, then respond with your own vid. Not only is this getting more of a cloud of activity around you, it's showing your vid to people who are highly qualified...interesting in viewing vids very much like your own.

Okay, I just checked YouTube and it said my file is invalid. Hmm. Isn't there an "Upload Your Video for Dummies" site out there?

Hi Patricia,

I tried some of the links you offer in this blog. I think YouTube loaded my video okay. I was still in the process. Google is taking a month of Sundays to load it (I'm using the link from my video server--same one I used on this site), but the Yahoo and Veoh gave me error messages. I have no idea what's wrong. Any thoughts?

You can also post them on freeIQ.com. My http://www.unstuckmovie.com is doing very well there.
