Website Question

This may be the place to ask about website hits. I launched my site on March 12, 2007. Within the first 80 days, I received 10,059 hits from people in 25 countries.

So far in June, I'm averaging just over 200 hits a day. Is this reasonable? It seems like a lot, but truthfully, I don't have a clue.

At last count I belong to about 17-18 author groups and the hits jump everytime I post. I've exchanged links/banners with numerous other authors and other writers' sites.

I've also noticed a spike in hits since the reviews started to come in and the information I've placed on Amazon seems to be helping to channel traffic to my site as well.

Locally, our public library has been promoting the book on their site and the city's newspaper as well as two nearby community's paper will be publishing a fearture in print and online about the book and promoting my book signing (June 19).

There are so many other freebies to take advantage of too. There's a link on my site (see, I'm making you go there) in the "Press Room" to my almamater's newsletter to journalism alumni. They published a nice article that went out to hundreds of alumni. Another freebie I'm excited about is that our local PBS station located here on campus is promoting the book signing on their community calendar and I've donated an autographed book for WIPB's November Telasale. They were thrilled when I called--not as thrilled as I am. The station has thousands of viewing households across the state and into Ohio. My book cover will be displayed on their website promoting the Telasale for weeks prior to the event. I couldn't buy that kind of promotion. :)

Now as far as sales, we'll have to wait to see how effective my efforts have been. Hopefully, I haven't been spinning my wheels. :)

I'm only into the 7th week of sales (Silenced Cry came out April 23) so I sense it's gotten quite a bit of exposure in a very short time.
