How to get newspaper to write about your book?

Hi, all my friends!

It has been a while before I finally have some time and mood to write something for my blog. Let me start by telling everyone my good news. Yes! My book has been featured in Singapore main paper called "The Sunday Times".

Here was the article that featured the content from my book.

So how did I do it? I'm on the internet surfing for new trends most of the time but this time I'm doing research on the internet to find the webpage for my local press company. Normally, on the webpage of any company will contain lots of information about the company and the important people. I just got all the names of all the senior editors or corrrespodents and put them on a piece of paper including the company's address for me to send my autographed books with "Thank You" cards & messages off. I put in my business cards as well with the " Thank You " cards & autographed books and send them off the next day.

As all these newspaper editors are looking for new topics or stuffs to write each week, you save them lots of time to research on new topics by sending them your book. I timed the sending off of my book after my book has achieved some good status in the bookstores. At this point of time, my book has managed to achieve the status of one of Singapore Best-Sellers.

You have nothing to lose but just some postage, cards & book costs. Just send them off and whose knows the next day when you wake up and go for breakfast in your favourite breakfast joint, you recieve a ring from people congratulating you. That's what happened to me that I didn't even know about it until I bought a copy of the paper to confirm that congrats.

The business card was very useful too because the senior editor of the newspaper called me to ask for an interview. Hence, wait for my next blog post about this coming interview as I will share my experience with all of you. Time for some networking ... See you all! Thanks again.

Yours Sincerely

Sean Toh
