The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Hi all:

I've been traveling this month and away from my computer and book promoting but am back and ready to go!

However, I'm at a loss at what else to do on-line. I have a website, have joined several writing related organizations, am on MySpace and Gather and listed myself on various other sites. Do any of you have any tips on what worked for you regarding your book sales on-line?

Did you check out Amazon's Kindle? It's the latest e-reader.

I have just gotten in a conversation with some ladies who are buying the Ereader from Sony and trying it out. They say it is a lot easier to carry in their purse than a hand full of books :D so maybe there is hope!!

I have to admit, Kim, e-books are harder to sell than print ones, but there are readers out there. However, I've heard that the sales of e-books are rising.

Kim:

Check out my website: 50frogs5babesandabulldog.com. I am in different search engines and trying every day to make new on-line contacts. I've just recently joined "The Red Room," "Writer's Cafe," and "Nothing Binding." I am also in "Author's Den," "Writer's Box," "LinkedIn," and Authornation, as well as Gather and MySpace.

My book is coming out ebook form (first, with potential print following) -- but again, I think it is the same for any book. You have to get the word out there. What book did you buy Susan? And Bill, I am going to check out your book.

Thanks for your comment, Bill. My book is under contract with an e-book publisher, but I am free to pursue another publisher for the print version. In the meantime, I am promoting the e-book on-line.

I haven't decided which way to go for the print version. I did visit your website. I have some questions.

It takes hard work to get known no matter what type of publishing you pursue; traditional or self. I believe that for the majority of authors the best chance for long term success begins with indie publishing. It's up to you to create a following for yourself. Relentless self-promotion. After you have a significant fan base if traditional publishing is your goal, you will have a better chance of getting a publishing deal that will benefit you. I am writing a book about Indie Publishing for authors which will be out in March 2009. If you're interested in taking control of your success as an independent author I may be able to help. Check out my profile.

Hi Kim:

Is your book being released through a traditional publisher or are you self-published? I find it hard to get known. It takes awhile. I joined different writer groups, got on MySpace and Gather (I much prefer Gather) and have a website. I just ordered a book from Amazon about internet promoting, although I do have another book. You just have to get the word out there.
