Back in my hometown of La Paz, Bolivia, traffic can roil anyone’s nerves. Red lights are commonly ignored. Stop signs do not exist. But the horn does, one loud beep alerts those on the crossing street you’re coming through.

Amazingly, serious accidents are not common. Fender benders, yes. A cab ride through those crowded streets promises an adventure with unexpected episodes worth writing about.

Vehicular chaos is a way of life. Often, roads are blocked with riots, and protesters cover the correct route to a destination. Everyone complains, but shuffles along life with contentment in spite of it all.

But no matter what part of the world we’re in, emotional setbacks are the ones that block our life. Have you been there? Unexpected circumstances halt our peace and keep us from reaching our destination.

I love David’s story. Though a respected king, possessing the qualities sparking envy in anyone, got himself in a traffic mess of all times.—sin.

But when he repented, he saw God’s green light of forgiveness.

"Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD "- and you forgave the guilt of my sin" (Psalm 32:5).

While fighting the traffic jams of life, God longs to bless you and me:

"Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit" (Psalm 32:1-2).

Whether it’s sin, adversity, insecurity or frustration that slows down your life, God is shining the green light. All you have to do is look up.

I did. And to my delight, found the detour reserved for those who trust in Him.

Janet.

P.S. Got a little secret I'll share on August 14...hope you come back and visit!
