For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers
Authors ask me a lot if there is anything they can do to help the marketing effort. What, besides smile at everyone at your book signings, speak clearly when you do presentations and always dress nicely? :) Of course!
There are a few websites now where you can enter some of the info on you and your book(s) and post it for free. Now, keep in mind that most of them want to upgrade you to a paid account of some kind. You probably don't need to do that. Here is a list of websites I have been directing my authors to lately:
www.bookpleasures.com (Also does reviews of books and interviews!)
www.craigslist.com (Not just for selling used couches anymore)
www.booktour.com (Allows people to search for local readings and events)
www.published.com (Kind of basic, but what the heck...)
www.bookideas.com (Another basic one but we want more hits from Google right??)
I have written up instructions on How to Get Your Info on Published.com, so let me know if you would like this emailed to you. It's a Word doc so it won't take up a lot of room in your email.
