You overwhelm me with your grief
Your skeleton cries to be put to rest
They’ve found sanction in the grave
Yet, you won’t let them go because then-
Then you would be force to live
Live with so much guilt and shame
Guilt that was never yours from the start
But burned lasting reminders in your heart
How can you be free to love someone
When you find you can’t love yourself
How can you expect them to see
The things you don’t see in yourself
Your skeletons keep speaking
Yet they have no voice
Though you let their secret out
You are still bound by lost innocence
The thing that you will never regain
So you try to break free
You run to someone to unlock the chains
But your pain adds more locks
Though the keys of your heart you gave
Your skeleton holds the key to freedom
So you live in fear and bondage
Fear of releasing all the hurt
Fear of living and being hurt again
Your mind is a safe haven for confusion
You live life on the very edge
But it is alright for it’s by choice
And your recklessness gives you control
Yet deep down you want something real
Something that you can call your own
But somehow you feel you don’t deserve it
Your mind tells you that you are unclean
You feel spoiled and your beauty is tainted
Your skeleton cries because it longs for the grave
Yet it will forever haunt you until-
You lay it to rest and finally break free
