Is eat, that’s right…I admit it with not a trace of shame. But I wake up hungry. I have friends who wouldn’t even think of putting anything in their mouth until that caffeine begins to percolate in their veins.

But when I say I start my day eating, I’m not referring to filling my stomach, but my soul.

I sit at my computer, and with my headset on, I key in commands to bring up the file with the Bible. Then with the use of my trusty screen reader, I navigate to find verses that I savor with delight.

Often, reading them spark hunger for more. Other times, I sit back satisfied and in awe at the richness of the message that molds my disposition for the day.

I began today in the same manner. Then my sweet mom drove me to the doctor for my post-op appointment.

I sat on that large chair at the Ophthalmologist office. I heard his chair roll closer to me. "Put your chin here," he said. "Hmm…see any more light? With this eye" "Not really." I said.

He sighed. "I was hoping we could restore a bit of sight on that left eye."

"No problem." I chuckled. "The part of life I see is not bad and I happen to love using my imagination, it’s more fun that way."

I felt his hand squeeze mine. "I wish more people had that same inspiring outlook."

Should I have told him of my morning routine? And the nourishment to my soul that gives me the passion to enjoy life, not just endure it?

Here’s my friend’s Kris’ a refreshing way to bring this to light.

"Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare." (Isaiah 55:2, NIV)

Please eat what is good from the heavens above. Be fed and be nourished with all of God's love. The Lord will provide for your needs every day, and your soul will delight in Him as you pray.

Father God, I am listening, and come to be nourished. Please feed me from the table You prepare each day - Fill my soul with riches from Your bounty as I feast upon Your Word and drink from Your Well of Living Waters, for they are good and will prepare me for everlasting life....Lord, make me whole again and grant me a healthy spirit fed by You. In Jesus' name I ask. Amen.

With love and friendship, © Kristine Stanton

I pray you don’t skip breakfast—the most important meal for a healthy spirit.
