Okay, I love, love my job as an over-the-phone Spanish interpreter. But sometimes I wish I’d have someone to turn to and ask, "What’s he saying?"

Yes, it happens. For example, I’ll be interpreting along without much difficulty, when suddenly, I hear a phrase that makes my brain screech to a halt.

For instance: "I find the proof evident, and the presumption great that you committed the alleged crimes included in the complaint."

Yikes! Though my mind can process the meaning, finding the Spanish equivalent in seconds is as difficult as operating my computer without my voice synthesizer. Not only that, but I need to come up with the Spanish interpretation in a clear and understandable rendition. Otherwise, while sweat begins to trickle down my forehead, the dead silence in the courtroom, waiting for my interpretation, can rattle my nerves.

Then I take a deep breath, and somehow my interpretation slips from my lips, hoping it will make sense.

Goodness! I also used to sweat when interpreting the Word of God. Think I’m kidding?

When I first read the book of Psalms (verses 1 to 3), I had to ask the Holy Spirit to be my interpreter.

And this is the way my brain registered the verses:

"Listen, if you want to prosper, really be successful in all you do, do these things"

Stop asking advice from those who know nothing about God and are clueless about who He is. And make sure you don’t hang around those who choose to go against God and His precepts. And even worse, stop going around those who are so proud and haughty…not good.

But guess what? If you really, really love God’s law, and end up thinking about His Word morning, noon and night…good news! You will be refreshed like a tree that’s by a river. You’ll not get tired, you’ll have energy, health, and feel revitalized and will continue to flourish. And you will have awesome results in God’s perfect timing. And that’s not all—anything at all you do will be wonderfully successful.

I pray that when you read God’s Word, you will call upon the greatest interpreter of all—the Holy Spirit. He’s just a heart-call away. Then you will understand His Word in the way meant just for you.

I challenge you to read the original version of Psalm 1: 1-3 and see what will be His interpretation that speaks to your heart.

Janet.
