The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Well, I have a contract in the works for my state stories - it is a 50-story/5-year deal with about one new state a month coming out. As per the publisher's info, I will probably see my first story sometime in September or October and then hopefully one a month after that. See a write-up about the series on http://willowravenillustration.blogspot.com/, Aidana WillowRaven's blog, and let her know that she is doing a great job.

So once I have these stories written I hope to sit back and relax. I've got a couple of ideas brewing and need to play around with them and go from there. See you all in the postings - E :)

UPDATE JANUARY 29, 2008

I officially put the contract in the mail on Thursday and have been busy writing my stories now. I have one written but it is a redo of one of the states I had already done for the 5-minute mystery thing which didn't work out for me - not for what they wanted and what I was doing. Anyway - I'm contracted for the next five years to do all 50 states over that period of time. Look for the first in the series to be published around September or so (maybe sooner depending on the illustrator and how far backed up the publisher is. --- see you all in the postings - E :)

I love suspense/thrillers and mysteries - I just received my copy of MURDER FOR HIRE: The Peruvian Pigeon for hosting the author on my blog last week. I can't wait to read it.

I'm always looking for some new stuff to read - so I'll check it out. - E :)

Well best of luck to you! I was writing picture books texts for about a year and really enjoyed doing them. But, as I'm sure you know, the competition in that genre is horrendous. "20,000 mss submitted last year, 3 books chosen for publication." Then I had a suspense novel published last summer so I've been pretty well wrapped up in that genre since then, with all the marketing stuff one is required to do nowadays. I don't know if you're interested in suspense novels but a 50-page excerpt of CROSSHAIRS is available for free on my website, www.russheitz.com. Anyway, thanks for responding and best of luck with the series!

Thank you, Russ. Since they are children's stories they aren't very long and I've already got three started - just needed to rework them and I've done the first one kind of - needs a little more and then some editing and fixing up and reading at group and then I'll submit and the other two will be right behind it - I'm excited for this series since it has been brewing for a long time - E :)

Congratulations, Elysabeth!
A five YEAR contract?!? Wow! That's fantastic! And one story a month. You must be very efficient as well as productive. I'll have to check out your website and will look forward to your first story in September.
