Marketing Ideas for Kids books (with a niche)?

My "jefe" and I are starting up a small publishing company for children's books, focusing on books with a distinctly Latin flavor for Hispanics in the US (we are working from Monterrey, Mexico).

Our first book (about Halloween/Day of the Dead) will be coming out this late summer.

But for marketing ideas...we're at square zero.

Any help out there?

Hispanic publications:
Thank you John. Great advice. I just ordered your book today. I'll start searching for children's magazines (hadn't thought of them)...I have a list of Hispanic magazines and newspapers I plan to do press releases for. How can I find out more about wholesalers, and hooking up with them?

Reviews:
I'm also searching for people who review children's books...I found a great list at http://www.writing-world.com/children/reviewers.shtml. I'm just starting to dig through them.

We want to compile as many reviews as we can, (not sure how we'll use it yet...press releases, & fliers for sure.)

Marketing Timing:
Our first book is related to Halloween/Day of the Dead, and will have the biggest push around that time. We will do print-on-demand. We've applied for the ISBN, and will be sending out the manuscript this week to get it copyrighted. Timing of the marketing on this will be important; too early or too late will make it less relevant. Any ideas on when would be good timing to send out press releases for a Halloween themed book?
Would reviewers be more interested in reviewing closer to Halloween? (But by then might it be too late?)

Lots of ideas. 1001 of them. :))

Your book should interest many children's magazines as well as magazines aimed at Hispanics. There are also a good number of wholesalers in the U.S. who specialize in selling Spanish-language books.
