The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

John---Thanks for the succinct list of book publishing options in your current newsletter (05-01-07). I can offer one variant to the list: Starting your own publishing company, but letting a POD publisher, who will allow you to use your own imprint (and ISBN, if you want) but do the distribution, obtain ISBN & Bar Code, file for copyright, fulfillment and some marketing for you. To me, this seems a good option because it allows an individual presence while being efficient of time. I plan to use PageFreePublishing this way. I've exchanged many informative emails with Kim at PageFreePublishing customer relations on these issues. You've used many of the options. Tell me: 1- What option was the easiest to use? 2- What option was the least time-consuming? 3- What option was the most profitable? Thanks.

Thanks, John---------Yes, I'm signed up for your newsletter. If I read it thoroughly enough, I might become less naive about publishing,----eventually. When you write your book on contemporary publishing options, be sure to include the drawbacks of each option---technical, profitability, time-expenditure, learning curve for gaining expertise (distribution for limited number of books, for instance), facility/ease of marketing/promotion, etc. Yes, I would prefer to be my own publisher/company, etc., but I don't have the time and expertise/resources for it. My best bet, I believe, is to use PageFreePublishing with the services they allow , as I explained previously. With blog publishing: I assume there is a feature that would allow you to charge to read sections after, perhaps, some free material at the beginning? Thanks.

The option I have always liked the best is forming a publishing company and self-publishing books. Most of my books have been done that way and that option has clearly been the most profitable.
