It is that time of year that marks the anniversary of the protest, marches, and demonstrations in this county. These events that are in primarily Hispanics communities are used to show unity and support for Hispanic culture and issues. It is also used for many immigrants in the community to show their opposition to the state and federal laws that they consider to be unfair. Most of these laws are aimed at restricting the flow of illegal aliens into this country and also returning illegal aliens to their native countries. This country was founded and built by people who came from other places. Some came willingly (immigrants) and some came unwillingly (slaves). I am in favor of immigration because this country would not offer the vast diversity that we all appreciate if it was not for immigrants. We live in a country that is now over populated and resources are dwindling. In addition there are two fundamental reasons that make open immigration into this country not possible. The first is we live in a country were a segment of our population that are U.S. citizens that live in poverty many are children. U.S. citizens are unemployed and are homeless. Also we live in a nation that is post 911 and the nation’s security does not allow us the luxury of an open door to immigrants. I feel that as long as these factors are present in this country then liberal immigration especially for Hispanics will always be an issue that most Americans will oppose.
