The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Having a review site is much more challenging than first anticipated.

The need and desire for authors to have their books showcased and talked about
is a living, breathing thing.

Reviews are sought with an encompassing passion and earnestness yet is tempered with
worry and wonder.

Will the review be good or indifferent and is the format unique and complimentary or cookie-cutter and mired in synopsis?

There are review sites galore.

What is not in abundance is reviewers. Reviewers are readers with a voice - the voice of their opinion. Books are selling and people are reading so it would be logical to anticipate being able to find reviewers to write and share about what they read.

I am finding it easier to locate the Easter Bunny than enthusiastic reviewers.

I've written HOW-To's and Examples to assist new reviewers in writing a quality review.
I've stroked and complimented and held their hands, yet sometimes one corrective critique is enough to tip the balance - no matter how gentle or PC - and they quit.

It is challenging to walk the line of personal sensitivity yet still demand the quality the site is expected to deliver.

The current dilemma is finding those readers who not only like to read but who are able, or are willing to learn, to write a review to my site's specs. Also the ability to handle a letter telling them about the areas that need to be tweaked -even if it's the whole review - is a must.

Is that so much to ask or expect?

Seems so.

The question has been and I fear will continue to be, HOW to find those special people who are as enthusiastic as I am about books and are willing to write about them.

Any Ideas on how to find reviewers?

Well said!! And, a good review -- with meat and not just synopses -- is hard to find.
