A knock back can feel like a knock in the face at times

Today one door opened, and another shut in my face. The open door was an idea by a library in a nearby city to have me attend some local high schools and discuss 'Abernethy' when it's back from the printer. The one that shut was in the form of an email received from a regional newspaper I contacted to ask would they consider doing a review and an interview (to be conducted by telephone). I live in regional New South Wales. The newspaper I contacted was in a nearby region. The person to whom I spoke mentioned with books etc they like to see if it can be somehow 'linked' with the town/city. Today I got the thanks-but-no-thanks message from them. I took a deep breath and backed away from my keyboard, lest I fire off something along the lines of, 'Well, f**k you. F**k you very much.' Now I feel like giving them quite the pasting, and saying something to the effect of, 'You parochial, provincial, small-minded, insular turds. What is wrong with giving a struggling author a break? Gallileo was tried as a heretic for daring to suggest the planets DIDN'T revolve around the Earth. Is this what you would do, if someone pointed out there is a vast world out there that DOESN'T revolve around your fly-blown city? Why don't you do what they did in Ancient China, if you don't want to know about anybody else, and just build a monstrous wall around the place? It'll keep us out, but if this is your attitude, who the hell wants to visit?'

Could this be construed as overkill?
