Entering book in competition, and whatever shall I read next?

Okay, today I completed an online application for the Western Australian Premier's Book Award, and I'll have to send five copies of 'Abernethy' to the judging panel. They don't return the books. What a rort! Be great if 'Abernethy' got an award, but I won't even know until June 2011.

Just watched a new Australian television series about a criminal barrister in Sydney. I worked in that very industry in that very city for a long time before my tree change. Not sure whether it's made me nostalgic or glad I'm out of it!

Got three books to read. One, Ronnie Wood's autobiography. Two, Dead Famous by Ben Elton. Three, can't remember the name; picked it up at book club tonight. It's about the Tudors and Cromwell. I do find that stuff interesting, so I'm hoping to enjoy it.

Not sure what to tell you about next. I hit my other blog with great fury today because a certain group wants to lobby the State candidates from all sides about having arrested persons' right to silence taken away. There's an election in NSW next March, and I fear some lily-livered pollies will acquiesce to this, and turn NSW into a police state. They tend to listen to populist politics, I fear. My blog's had a lot of hits in the past twenty-four hours, and I'm hoping it will lead to more sales of 'Abernethy', which is an Aussie coming of age with a beagle that just happens to talk to certain people. Check it out at the publishers, and read the first chapter: http://www.zeus-publications.com/abernethy/htm

Stay cool, my fellow writers.
