For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so
great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both
with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost,
according to his own will?-Hebrews 2:2-4

I remember as a child watching Batman, MacGyver, Superman, Spiderman, and 007 it seemed that no matter what traps they were placed in they always seemed to find a way to escape. There was always some hole in the
villain’s plot or some type of gadget or device that would ultimately lead to
their escape. The escape was always the highlight of the program because in
some secret way every human being was programmed to want to escape.

The world has many obstacles and life has its fair share of tribulation and discouraging moments. When our burdens get too hard to bear and life just seems to be one problem after another we naturally want to escape.
Escape can come in many forms sometimes its vacation, a long walk, a car ride,
a trip to the beach, or a video game. We can all agree that for the most part
these escapes are appropriate and needed but what happens when we return and
our problems are still there. For some a temporary escape is not enough and the
vacations become more frequent, the walks become longer, the video game becomes
addiction and before you know you have completely checked out of reality.

There is a terrible trend in society that is known as escapism and many people are unaware that they are participating in this trend. Divorce, single parenting, prison rates, child neglect, drug abuse,
pornography, sexual immorality, are all forms of dangerous escapism. Most
recently the addiction to social networking, alternate digital lives such as
The Sims and Second Life have allowed people to escape human to human
interaction and create alternate lives on the internet. I enjoy social
networking and I don’t have a problem with video games but if those things
consume your life and provide you with an alternate identity they can separate
you from reality.

Life is bigger than us and the problems of life weren’t meant for mankind to deal with them alone. People are shown everyday through situations how much they need God in their life when they realize that they
need to escape this present world. God himself is offering to provide mankind a
permanent escape from oppression, violence, sorrow, debt, and death and that
escape is called Heaven. God has sent his only begotten son (Jesus Christ) that
humans may experience life and life more abundantly. The truth is Heaven is
real and so is Hell and the only true way for mankind to escape their problems
is to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Without the salvation of
Jesus Christ there is no way for mankind to escape the condemnation and
judgment that sin has led them to a place simply known as Hell.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.-1 Corinthians 10:13
