Here is my answer to a personal message I received on this network. The author asked how you interact with the readers of your previous book if your latest book is on a completely different topic. Again, here is my answer:

As for your question, you would be surprise on varied people's interests are. And if you have an audience for one book, at least 20 to 40% of that audience will probably be interested in your next book, no matter what the topic. (If the new book is on the same topic, of course, you hope 100% will be interested in the new one.)
You need to let your people that are following you on the old book know about your new book. Even if they are not interested in the subject, they probably have spouses, friends, colleagues, etc. who would be interested -- and chances are that they will share your book news with these people.
Let your old followers know more than once. Indeed, it's okay to write about your new book in your current email newsletter, blog, or website once a month or so, even when your newsletter, etc. isn't on that subject. You'd be surprised on how many of your readers are interested in what you are doing, even when it doesn't apply to them.
Of course, beyond that, you have to create a new website, blog, or such to promote the new book to the world. And create relationships with existing websites, etc. devoted to the audience for your new book.
